To get 99 master balls, the first time you go onto the ss aqua in olivine city, check all the trash cans, and in one of them you will find 99 master balls.
|
|
|
and walk around. Eventually, you will run into a Blue, shiney Koffing.
|
|
A Few Hints |
To get eggs from the daycare centre without hving to hunt down same type opposite genders. Just find a Ditto and leave it in the daycare centre with any pokemon male or female and they will have an egg after a quick round at indigo platau.
(this definitly works with female pokemon and I am sure it works with males) (I think it works with lugia and Ho-oh too)
to find the 3 dogs easily all you need do is search everywhere until you encounter one if it gets away its position will appear in your pokedex under area. when you manage to get there use attract and it will be easier to find.
(it frequently moves so keep checking your pokedex)

Did you know that there are Pokemon hidden in Gold/Silver that have alternate colors, aka shiny status? There is no easy way to find them (except for the Red Gyarados in the Lake of Rage) as they appear at random -- but they're out there. If you see specially colored Pokemon, be sure to catch them as they are very rare. You can recognize them by the sparkle effect when they appear in battle, or by checking on the Pokemon Status Screen. Next to the Male/Female symbol, these special Pokemon are marked with three dots.

|
At the Daycare Center south of Goldenrod City on Route 33, you can give a male Pokemon and a female Pokemon to the keepers to breed new Pokemon.
Breed two Pikachus to get Pichu.
Breed two Electabuzzes and you get Elekid.
Breed two Clefairies and you get Cleffa.
Breed two Jigglypuffs and you get Igglybuff.
Breed two Magmars and you get Magby.
Breed a Venonat with a Pinsir to get Pinsir.
Breed a Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee with a Ditto to get Tyrogue.
Breed a Clefairy with a Snubbull to get another Snubbul.
Breed a Gyarados with the Red Gyarados to get a golden Magikarp.
Replace any of the Pokemon with the genderless Ditto if you've only got one of a kind. Ditto will act as a wildcard Pokemon.
|
|
Breeding Tip |
When you breed two pokemon its important to know what will the egg hatch into.
For example:
Natu(Female) Attacks: peck,teleport,nightshade
Doduo(male) Attacks: drillpeck,fly,peck,growl
The female pokemon will be the pokemon that hatches from the future egg(unless its ditto, it can be male or female)The male can pass along moves like in this case, the Male Doduo will pass along its drill peck move to the baby natu. The moves that the male has will not always pass to the baby.

Catch Shining Pokemon |
GameShark Code: 010719D1 << Zeros not the Letter.
*Any Pokemon that appears in the Wild will be Shiny as long as this Code is ON.
|
|
|
My Celebi is now at level 74. This is truly how you get it. What you do is defeat the Elite Four. Then trade an Ivysaur (MUST be an Ivysaur) that knows Cut from your Red/Blue game. Go to the shrine in Ilex Forest. Use Cut on the shrine. Then put Lugia at the front of your party ( it doesn't matter what level it is). Use Lugia's Fly to Fly to Mahogany Town. When you have done that, go to the Karate King in Mt. Mortar. Beat him and get Tyrogue. Evolve it into a Hitmontop. Breed Hitmontop with a Ditto and the result will be Tyrogue. Take this one to the shrine (with Lugia at the front remember) and use Cut again. Celebi comes floating out. It is at level 10 when you catch it and it isn't particularly difficult to catch.
|
|
|
Many say that it is imposible to get celibi but i figured out this good cheat. First you must get a male Abra and a Ditto. Get them both at levle 30+ and let them both hold an everstone. Then take them to the breading ground. They will have an egg and it should be a Celibi if the code is done right. If you take them to the daycare center to get them to 30+ the code will not work, they should have had and egg by them, but if they haevent then try this code but it may not work.

|
Make sure you know the copy trick. Copy your strongest pokémon in more numbers, if few pokemon get faint, hold the pokemon that goes op a level or experience, to easily defeat each gym trainer, next delete your copies and continue your journey until you face another gym, retry the method again. You can also use the trick fighting your rival, or other type of trainers.
|
|
Dunspacre |
To get Dunsparce, just go to dark cave at night and Dunspacre to appear.
|
|
|
Note: Use this code at your own risk. It may corrupt your save data if done incorrectly.
Go to a PC, and save. Attach the item you want to duplicate to the Pokemon you want to clone. Deposit it into the PC. Change boxes. When the screen is saying "Saving the game..." Turn off your GB. Turn it back on. You should have the deposited Pokemon in the PC, and a clone of it in your lineup. The item will either be on both monsters, or in your Backpack. Note: while doing this code, DO NOT withdraw any Pokemon. When the GB is turned back on, you'll find that the withdrawn Pokemon has been deleted. Note: You can duplicate up to 5 items/Pokemon at a time.
|
|
Easy Rare Dogs |
The easy way to get Raikou, Entei, and Suicune is to capture or raise a pokemon to learn the move "meanlook" hunt down which ever rare dog you want, have the pokemon that knows "meanlook" in the front of the party. When you find the rare dog of your choice you need to use "meanlook" so then it can't flee. Bring lots of ultra balls or simply a master ball.

|
Elekid |

|
To catch a really rare glitch pokemon that doesn't screw up your game, fly to New Bark Town and go to where your rival stood at the beginning of the game. Press a three times there. Then go to the first patch of grass. Search for about 30 minutes without stopping. Eventually, a pokemon that looks like a mixture of a Mewtwo and a Pikachu will appear. It will be at level 35. You can only catch it with a pokeball and if you use one attack on it it will automatically faint. So throw the pokeball right when you find it. If it doesn't catch it, keep trying. It eventually will.
|
|
|

|
Fuchsia City Gym Tip |
Once you reach to Fuchsia city gym. You will see lots of ningas. Only one of them is the gym leader, and the others are fake. To find out, talk to them. If it is the gym leader, it will stay in the ninga suit. If not, it will show its real person and battle you. Tip: The gym leader is the most EASY gym leader in the map. She carries 5 Pokemon and Each are levels 28 to 30. Easy? Fly will do the best because her Pokemon can kill them self and try to hit you. If you are in the air, it has no effect and the Pokemon FAINTS.

Smeargle can learn ANY move in the world. Hold on a second! it is not compatible with ANY TM or HM! how can it learn any move?
Smeargle's signature move is sketch. when it uses it, the move 'sketch' will be permanently replaced with another move, the one that was used on him last.
What's that? you know that already?
but heres the cheat: if you transform into smeargle (the move transform is available to ONLY ditto and mew) then you can sketch whatever move you want. you wanna have a super fang (always removes 50% health) on mew? go to a link battle, tranform into smeargle, then sketch the move.
would you like to have spore (100% accuracy, induces sleep) on a ditto, perhaps? set up a safeguard (so ditto doesn't fall asleep from spore) then transform into smeargle and sketch the move! (except, i think you have to trade into stadium 2 or something in order to get that move again)
- -----------------------------------------------------------
and if you want to get mew...
quote:
This glitch has been verified by IGN Pokemon Board Mods, so you know.
Restart your game and play until you get HM02 Fly from the house west of Celadon City (or just beat the third gym and get the badge that lets you use fly out of battle and trade pokemon that know fly to the new game).
IMPORTANT!!: DO NOT fight the following trainers:
The Youngster with a Slowpoke (level 17) on the road to Bill's house(Route 25). He is the fourth trainer after you cross Nugget Bridge, standing directly above a female trainer and facing north.
The Gambler with two poliwags and a poliwhirl (all level 22) between Lavender Town and Saffron City (Route 8). He is standing just east of the entrance to Saffron City, facing north toward the door of the Underground Path. Care fully follow the series of steps illustrated below...
Make sure you have a pokemon that knows FLY. Make sure you have a level 5 or 6 pokemon and a pokemon that knows SLEEP on your team. Stock up with pokeballs (Great Balls work the best). Now Save your game before you enter Route 8 since saving after this point will disrupt the procedure.
On Route 8, stand in front of the door of the Underground Path (don't let the gambler see you or you will need to restart where you last saved). Walk down one step and IMMEDIATELY press start. If you succeed, the menu will pop up before the Gambler "sees" you. Go to the Pokemon list and fly to Cerulean City. The Gambler will see you just before you fly away. Your Start button will no longer function. Go north across Nugget Bridge and head east until you find the Youngster described above.
If you walk right up to the Youngster, the game will lock up, so you'll have to let him see you and walk up to you. Defeat his Slowpoke(afterwards your start button will work again), then fly to Lavender Town. Head west into Route 8. As soon as you enter the narrow path, the menu will pop up by itself. Press B to exit. . . and a wild Mew should appear. Mew will be at Level 7 and its only attack will be Pound. Get'em! Once you've caught Mew, you can save without any ill effects!
- ---------------------------------------------------------
mew learns transform at lv. 10. and it learns metronome at lv. 30... can anyone tell me what happens when yours metronomed sketch...?
one more thing. if you mimic sketch, is mimic replaced by the move that was sketch?

Get All 3 Starter Pokemon From Prof Elm |
GameShark Code: 0100BAD7 << Zeros not the letter.
*If the code is ON, and you are just starting a game, once you get to the point of choosing the starter, keep picking all of them. You will now possess all three starters. Also, the first Pokemon you choose, your Rival will still get the Pokemon with the type advantage (i.e. Cyndaquil > Totodile) even if you took all of them.
|
|
Get As Many Legendaries/starters As You Want! |
We all should have ehard of the cloning cheat right? bugt the thing is, is that the cloning cheat makes two pokemon with IDENTICAL stats. and if you want to raise a half-decent legendary, you should know that the minute differences in its stats when you first catch it makes HUGE impacts on your overall stats later on.
this cheat should have been called, 'catch a legendary without actually catching it', because it certainly seems like that!
make sure you are on an empty box in the computer storage system. very important.
go up to the legendary and save infront of it.
then, catch the legendary (easier said than done!). DO NOT save after catching it. go to the pokecenter WITHOUT SAVING and deposit it in that empty box. then change to another empty box and... well, you know what to do! turn it of when the word 'power' appears, as in 'saving...DO NOT TURN OF THE POW...' do not let that word 'power' finish showing up.
if all goes well, you should end up back in front of the legendary, your pokedex will not have the legendary in it, you haven't used up any pokeballs (so don't be scared to use master ball here!) and it isn't in your party. BUT it is in that 'empty' box! go back to the pokecenter, withdraw it, place it in another box then switch to an empty box and repeat if you want!
this trick does NOT work for raikou, entei and suicune, not only because it is difficult to save before battling them, but also because their stats are preset each time you start a new game.
PS i heard that this same trick can be done with the starters (chikorita, cyndaquil, totodile) but i haven;t tried it because my game is glitched up and my first box is a total mess every time i try to use it and eventually all the pokemon inside get deleted.
now, i heard that you might get shiny legendaries, but what if you want to keep (for example) ho-oh at the top of the tower (in case you find a way to get shinies always) but you still want to catch it and use it in battles? here is the answer!
also, when you find the strongest legendary you can be bothered looking for, then you can just release the others that you don't want!

Get Celebi |
Gameshark Code: 01FBEDD0 Those 0 are zeros not the letter
|
|
Get Lapras |
To get a lapras simply on a wednesday go in to the cave in Alazea Town climb up a ladder (not sure which one) and surf across a lake then cimb down a ladder. try and get to the deep part of the cave. If you are on the right track you should come bump into lots of trainers (cool trainers). At the end you should see a lake surf across it and there sould(if you have done it right) see a lapras. Challenge it, it should be level twenty, then all you have to do is capture it( I recomend ultra balls to capture it). Then you have a lapras.

|
you know that annoying item ball in national park thats always leering at you, but you can never actually get to it? heres how:
face the item ball. now push against a part of the fence. is it solid? yes. move on to the next bit of fence. and repeat. the gap in the wall is near the kid holding the gameboy.
that item ball contains paralyse heal. but explore around the fence and in the trees you can find TM28: dig. also, there is a hidden item near the end of the fence, near the south entrance of national park. it is a full heal.
hope that helps!

|
|
You can get two Master balls in the game. One Master ball you get from Professor Elm when you get all the badges. The other place you get a Master ball is in the Lucky Number show. You have to win four numbers and then you get the Master ball. Every time you win before you get the Master ball they give you PP ups.
|
|
Get Tyrogue And Kingdra |
You might already know about the shortcut in the water between ecruteak and mahogany.
when you surf in the water, go to the centre 'island' (where the apricorn bushes, headbutt-able trees and cut-able shrub is) go inside the cave. you will need flash, surf and waterfall.
go in the water and up the waterfall and down the ladder.
next you find yourself in a 'maze' of ledges and puddles. work your way up until you can't go any higher.
theses are some of the items you will find:
- escape rope (escape from this wretched cave)
- dragon scale (give it to a seadra and it evolves into KINGDRA when traded)
- TM 40 (defense curl; very useful in conjunction with rollout)
- Ether (restores 10pp on one move)
go into the ladder thats right near the top and you'll find yourself in another more brightly lit cavern. explore around and you'll eventually find the karate king, and he's pretty easy with a level-30-or-so hitmonlee and hitmonchan.
Make sure you have a spare slot in your party because he gives you tyrogue, the baby form of hitmonlee, hitmonchan and hitmontop.
tyrogue evolves at level 20 into one of the three hit-monsters depending on its stats:
Atk>Def = hitmonlee
Atk<Def = hitmonchan
Atk=Def = hitmontop
THE END
|
|
|
Go to the right side of Violet city. Look in the grass and you may find a golden metapod.
|
|
Have All Starters (No GameShark) |
To do this.. you must start a new game. SAVE at the point where you get the chance to start with your first Pokemon.
choose your first pokemon and read the NOTE (Down from here) then use the 5 pokeballs to catch a Pokemon where you don't care about example: Pidgey,Sentret,HootHoot. put your starter on Pc and change box: SAVING... DON'T TURN
OFF THE POWER. turn it off quickly.. but not too quickly!! if you did it succesfull, you start at the point where you choose a starter, but this time you choose a different one. go to the pokemon center and check the box. if he/she is in it. don't withdraw it! after you get the 5 Pokeballs. use it to catch a "Don't care Pokemon" again. and this time put your 2nd Starter in your pc and change the box again.the last one is very simple. just choose the last starter. and go to the Pokemon Center.. and withdraw the 2 other Starters.now you have Chikorita Cyndaquil an Totodile.
NOTE: After choose a Starter.go to Cherrygrove City on the west side of town. just cross Route 29 and reach the town
from Cherrygrove. you go north to Route 30 and get the Pokedex from Oak. located in a house on Route 30. after that.. go back to Route 29 cause your Rival will run into you and start a fight. after that cross Route 29 to reach New Bark Town cause Prof. Elm wants to speak to you. it's about your Rival. you must give him a name. after that. you get the 5 Pokeballs if you leave the building.
|
|
Hint |
This is just a very useful hint. No matter what any one says, there is not way to get celibi or mew without a gameshark or gameboy promotion.
|
|
Hint: Finding Golden Magikarp |
At 8 PM or 8 AM, go to BlackThorn City. You can find golden Magikarp in the water around the gym.
|
|
Hints And Tips |
Day-Care Copying
There is an easier (but time-wasting) way to copy Pokemon. For example, for two Typhlosions, breed a Cindaquil with Ditto. When the egg hatches, you will get a Cindaquil. Train both to Level 32 and they will evolve into Typhlosion.
Hint on Starting Pokemon
Chikorita: A Grass-type Pokemon with girlish looks, Chikorita is the most challenging of the three starting Pokemon. It's not particulary strong against any of the Pokemon you'll encounter in the first part of the game (in fact, it's extremely weak against most of the Gym Pokemon!), so you must spend a lot of time leveling it up and building a team of support Pokemon. Chikorita is recommended for experienced Pokemon Trainers or players who want an extra challenge.
Totodile: This Water-type Pokemon is a good, all-around choice for a starting Pokemon. It's greatest strengh lies in its flexibility. Of the three starting Pokemon, it can use the most HMs and has no weaknesses against the Pokemon you encounter in the beginning of the game. This is a great starting Pokemon for any player.
Cindaquil: Known for its fiery quills, this Fire-type is the strongest of the three starting Pokemon. In fact, you can make it through most of the game on the strengh of his Pokemon alone. (It's final form, Typhlosion, is extremely powerful!) Choose Cindaquil if you're playing the Silver version and your Typhlosion and Lugia will take out the Elite Four easily! Cindaquil is the best choice for new players and those who want to speed through the game.
A Psychic Pokemon that knows Dark moves
Train your Eevee to level 30. Make sure you don't make it evolve. At level 30 it learns Bite. Then train it good and make sure it evolves before it grows to level 36. It will evolve into Espeon and learn Psybeam. Ta-da! You have a Psychic Pokemon that knows Dark moves!!!
Easy way to take out Lance
If you chose Totodile at the start of the game, use it against Lance. Make sure it knows Ice Punch. Use Ice Punch to knock Lance's Pokemon down one by one. Dragonite and Aerodactyl are the ones most affected. Use a Raichu or Ampharaos to take out Gyarados. You thought it was Dragon/flying? Nope It's WATER/Flying.
Battle the guard near Daycare Center
At night, talk to the guard near the Daycare Center. He might battle you, but he has a Level 17 Growlithe that you might take out easily. His name is Officer Keith.

you know that they say, 'two pokemon of the same level and species aren't the same'? their stats are different because of DVs (diversification/determinant values, though the 'D' stands for a different thing on different websites), which are a lot like the IVs of the newer versions of pokemon (go here for zapper's IV guide: http://www.cheat-database.info/display/singlecheat.phtml?id=36954), except that DVs are a number from 0 to 15 instead of 0 to 31. at the same time, though, in the stat calculation formula, the DVs are counted for twice so the max stats of a pokemon in the old versions are the same as the max stats of a pokemon in the advanced generation (as long as its a neutral nature, BTW).
each pokemon has a random 4-bit number from 0-15 (the DV) assigned to each of its stats, and once you catch a pokemon those numbers are set in stone. the HP DV is a little different; to save space it uses the last bit of each of the other four DVs (eg. if you had DVs of 0101, 1001, 0110, and 1101, the HP DV would be 1101, and i'd tell you what that string of 1's and 0's is as soon as i learn to count in binary). the DV for special attack and special defense is shared in GSC (gold/silver/crystal), so that it would be possible to trade with RBY (red/blue/yellow).
DVs can influence an individual stat only by a maximum of 32 (when you're at level 100, of course), but can effect your overall stats by up to 160!
in the old days of red, blue and yellow, the only way to find perfect (15 in each stat) DVs was to catch a whole bucketload of pokemon and hope one of them has perfect DVs. there is only a 1/65536 chance of finding a pokemon with perfect DVs this way. but since you can now breed, there are much greater odds of such things.
to breed, simply leave two compatible pokemon, male and female, in the day care center. check their compatibility by pressing A on them while they're in the daycare center. if it says anything other than 'its brimming with energy!' or 'it shows no interest in xxx', then they're compatible (and they can be incompatible with eachother even when they're the same species sometimes - if their special and defense DVs are the same, the game thinks they are directly related prevents them from breeding with eachother, so you get that moral message saying, 'dont breed parents with their babies!'). walk (or bike) a lot of steps (which can sometimes be a LOT) and voilá! check back on the old man and you get an egg. to hatch it, walk (prefferably bike) a whole lot more steps. the egg will be the species of the female (or non-ditto parent, if ditto is used), with the TM moves of the male, plus some moves called 'egg moves' that can only be found on such-and-such when you breed it with a male so-and-so that knows the egg move. any move possessed by both parents (as long as the parents aren't eevee evolutions) get passed down too.
The egg's attack DV is chosen at random, and is used to determine the egg's gender:
If the DV is lower than the Species Gender Number, the Pokemon will be female.
Otherwise, it's male. -1 is the neutered group.
Table of numbers:
0: Tyrogue, NidoranM, Tauros
2: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Eevee, Snorlax, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Togepi, Omastar, Kabutops, Aerodactyl
4: Growlithe, Machop, Elekid, Magby, Abra
8: anything not listed
12: Cleffa, Vulpix, Igglybuff, Corsola, Snubbull
16: NidoranF, Miltank, Chansey, Kangaskhan, Smoochum (nup; 16 is not a misprint. it makes sure that every one of these pokemon are female)
1-: Magnemite, Voltorb, Staryu, Porygon
(so male pokemon ARE stronger if they were bred! though this is no real concern if the pokemon is a special sweeper and/or an all-female pokemon)
the speed DV is also determined at random.
the Defense DV is passed down from the parent with the opposite gender of the egg (from the mother if its a boy; from teh father it its a girl), or from the ditto parent if you use ditto.
the special DV is also passed down from the parent with the opposite gender of the egg, or from the ditto parent if you use ditto, BUT it has a 50% chance of being offset by exactly 8 (plus or minus, whichever one).
the HP is determined by the last bit of the other DVs.
now lesee those odds on getting a pokemon with max DVs... ok, if i use a ditto with max DVs in Def and Special, hmm...
1/16 (for the attack DV) x 1/16 (the speed DV) x 1 (the defense DV) x 1/2 (the special DV) = 1/512 (and the HP is automatically maxed if all your other DVs are too).
notice its a lot less random than 1/65536. and for special sweepers (that need no attack, only special), its even easier:
1 (the attack DV can be anything you like) x 1/16 (the speed DV) x 1 (defense) x 1/2 (special) x 1/2 (HP, which, when all other DVs are maxed, has a 50% chance that the unused attack DV will end in a '1') = 1/64
lastly, 512 eggs is a LOT of eggs (as is 64, though its not that bad with special sweepers), so as long as you find you've got about 90%-or-so (depending on how patient you are) of the maximum stats (an average of roughly 13.5 DVs for each stat you care about), you can just about jump for joy and get on to the more interesting parts of training your pokes. oh, and dont bother about this if the only battling you'll ever do will be against the dimwitted computer; this breeding is meant to give whoever bothers an edge in link battling (computer battles are too easy; you dont need all this help).
...whats that? how do you get a ditto with 15 DV in both special and defense? well, theres two ways to do it:
1. catch 256 dittos
...or:
2. get a pokemon which already has 15 DV in both special and defense, then trade it to Red/blue/yellow (if its not already in there; i find it easiest to find out a pokemon's DVs if i have the unlimited rare candy trick: raise the newly caught pokemon to level 50 without training it at all, then look at the stats. the way you figure it out is by going: 'the stat you see on the status screen' minus base stat = IV. for a list of pokemon's base stats, go here: http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~psypoke/dex/pokedex.php?id=001&view=stats), then teach it the mimic TM. (give a pokedoll bought at celedon dept store to copycat in saffron)
then, fight a wild ditto with this pokemon in front. first thing you do (before it uses transform), you use mimic. mimic its transform before it overwrites transform with your moves. the ditto should get transform again, even after it has transformed into you. once it transforms into you a second time, catch it! the ditto has had its IVs transferred over from the mimicer, and you can use it for breeding any time once you trade it back into gold/silver/crystal! (PS: if the mimicer was a shiny eg. the red gyarados from pokemon gold/silver/crystal, then the ditto also becomes a shiny. its blue!)

How To Get All Three Johto Starters (No Trading) |
1. Start a New Game: Set the time, talk to your mom,
set up your bank, blah blah.
2. Make your way to Prof. Elm but DO NOT pick your Pokemon!
Save your game right in front of Prof. Elm,
don't turn off the power, duh.
3. Now, you can choose a Pokemon (choose wisely...or not)
From this point on DO NOT SAVE THE GAME! Until I say.
4. Make your way through the game until you have pokeballs.
5. Catch any Pokemon (Sentret, HootHoot, Pidgey, etc.)
6. Give your starting Pokemon 1 Pokeball.
7. Go to a Pokemon Center and deposit your starter into
the PC, then change the Box to any other box.
Save the game,
> BUT! <
Turn off the power when instructed not to do so.
(When the 'R' in 'POWER' appears)
8. Turn the power back on, and you should be standing by
Prof. Elm!
9. Choose a new starter (One you haven't chosen yet.)
STILL DO NOT SAVE THE GAME.
10.Go to the Pokemon Center and withdraw your first starter,
and take it's Pokeball.
11.Catch a new Pokemon (Sentret, HootHoot, Pidgey, etc.)
12.Go back to the Pokemon Center and deposit both your
starters into your PC, then change the Box to any other
box. Save the game,
> BUT! <
Turn off the power when instructed not to do so.
(When the 'R' in 'POWER' appears)
13.Turn the power back on. (once again you're standing by
Prof. Elm.)
14.Choose the remaining starter (the one you don't have.)
15.Retraive the others from your PC! Now you can save.
P.S. You don't get Pokedex data for the first two stored
in your PC, but you can fix that by just breeding
those two Pkemon with a Ditto later in the game!

How To Raise Your Stats |
the real mechanisms behind stat gain:
beleive it or not, but the amount of stats you gain is controlled by what pokemon you fought as you gained that level. this is called 'The EV (Effort Values) System', a concept first discovered by ROM hackers.
EVs: when you get four EVs to one stat, then that stat gets one more unit added to it.
some pokemon give more EVs than others, and some give one point to two stats! usually, they add point/s to the stat that they are strong in. but say i'm training ho-oh to have a really high spec. attack. i should just verse lotsa natus and all these points would build up. but say i battled 3,996 natus - i would not only be bored to death, but i would eventually aquire 999 on my spec attack stat! so there is a limit: 255 points to one stat, and a 510 cap on the sum of your EVs. so, you can add up to 64 to two stats - quite useful, eh? BUT, you don't have to completely max out EVs, because those last three EVs to one stat won't help it. because 255 does not divide by four evenly. so just add 252 to two stats, and you'll get the same result! plus, you are left with six EVs, but they won't do THAT much.
does this seem like a lot of work to do? well, you can speed it up with vitamins. each vitamin (protein, carbos etc.) can add 10 EV points, and there is a max of 10 vitamins of one sort to a pokemon. unless your stats are already maxed out.
EV training: is when you just battle certain wild pokemon JUST to max out your EVs. here are some places to EV train:
hit points: national park at night - only hoothoots there
attack: the first route after New Bark town, just fight sentrets
def: any cave where there are rock/ground pokemon
sp. att: the part in ruins of alph where you find natus, you know, you have to go up into union cave, surf in the water, go past the couple hikers and take the north road? then you have to defeat this psychic with a girafarig? and just run from any smeargles
spec def: anywhere where there are tentacools
speed: diglett's cave
and you should count how much EVs you have with pencil and paper - just put another tally on the column with the stat on it.
Note: EV training gives you an edge in pokemon crystal's battle tower and in link battles, but if you just want to play the game through and thats it then theres little point in spending so much time honing your pokemon's stats.
Rare candies: once your EVs are maxed, you aren't gunna get much more stats, are you? this is when you can't tell the difference between normal-level-up stats and a rare candy-level-up stats, and it is safe to use rare candy without any damage to your stats.

Normal-Type Pokemon With Ghost Type Moves |
First, get an Eevee from Bill's house in Goldenrod city. Next, capture a Ditto in the grass South of Goldenrod city. After that, evolve the Eevee into an Espion (i.e, by making it happy in the morning or day and then making it grow a level) and teach it TM Shadow Ball (get it by defeating Gym Leader Morty). Now train the Ditto up to around about the same level as the Espion and put them both into Pokemon Day-Care. Wait for the old man to give you an egg (check the day-care centre as much as you can) and wait for it to hatch. The egg will hatch into an Eevee that should know Shadow Ball (A Ghost-Type attack). Now you can use a ghost attack against most enimes and most enimes won't be able to use ghost attacks against you!

Go to Union Cave on the weekends. You might have heard before from some guy the following (He is in Union Cave) he stated "On weekends, I can hear strange ROARS from deep inside the cave." On weekends, go to the deepest levels of Union Cave (Lowest Basement/Level) and at some point a Shining Onix will appear. Make sure to take low level Pokemon to battle and weaken it, and some Ultra Balls, or simply use a Master Ball.

|
Shining Pok'emon |
In the games there are several Pok'emon that will be found with a special attribute. They will shimmer before battle and will have a different colour than the regular type of its species.
There is in fact no set place to find them. You do not always find Shining Golbat in one place. Many say that they have found a shining Pok'emon in a certain area and assume that the shining Pok'emon that they caught is exclusive to that area. When actually they appear randomly.
It is true though that a Shining Pok'emon mating with a regular Pok'emon, increases the chances of the baby having a Shining Form. I should know as I obtained '17' this way (Remoraid, Pidgey and Aerodactyl were some of those).
If you get a shining baby that can evolve, duplicate it and evolve the duplicate!

The ruins of Alph are home to the mysterious Unown (#201), the only Pokemon that exists in more than one shape. Solving the different sliding-tile puzzles will drop you into the ruins below, where you can capture the mysterious Pokemon. In the beginning, you can only access one puzzle (the solution is Kabutop). You can get to the rest of the ruins once you have Surf and Strength. Surf lets you swim to the south cave which contains a puzzle of Aerodactyl. The other two puzzles are reached through the Union Cave using Surf and Strength. The puzzle to the southwest is an Omanyte, while the one to the west is a picture of Ho-oh.
The more puzzles you solve, the more varieties of Unown will be available to be caught. (There are 26 variations in all, one for each letter of the English alphabet. Ruins of ALPH, get it?). Once you have caught at least three different shapes of Unown, go to the Alph Lab just outside the first entrance. You will receive an upgrade to your Pokedex that lets you view and collect the different shapes of Unown.
After you have caught all 26 shapes of Unown, you should return to the lab. Using the machine in the corner, you will now be able to use the Unown shapes to create and print out banners using the "Unown font" (if you have a GB Printer).

Strongest Pokemon |
If you find, as you get on later in the Game, that opponents are Hard, keep bettling the same people who wish to, or wild animals of that level. Leveling up your creatures by Rare Candy may be quick, but its not as powerful as doing it by hand.
|
|
Superior Battle Power... |
Once you have Got to the Stage where you can transport Pokemon across time, put basic Pokemon that arent from Johto, or have any Johto moves in your Party, and Trade with your Pokemon Blue or Red for your Special Level 100 Pokemon.
|
|
|
First, you have to capture a male Smeargle, and a female Pikachu. Make sure that the only attack Smeargle knows is Sketch (preferably more than one). Breed them together, and you'll have a Pichu, that hopefully knows Sketch. Evolve it into Pikachu, and then battle a friend w/ the Pikachu in your line-up. Make sure your friend has a Pokemon that knows Surf. Battle the Pikachu and the Pokemon w/ Surf. Get your friend to use Surf on Pikachu. (Make sure Pikachu's strong enough not to faint!) Then use Sketch. Voila! You now have a Surfin' Pikachu! If you want, you can trade it to someone's Pokemon Yellow and then play the Surfin' Pikachu Game at Fuschia!

What makes a shiny a shiny is its stats that it was born with - these are called the IVs, i think (stands for individual values)
let me explain.
if you just keep catching pokemon of the same level and species, you will notice that their stats vary. the greatest amount a stat can vary from one pokemon to the other is 15. say i have found a secret location that only has one species of pokemon in it, and they are all at level 100. and say the lowest speed stat i ever saw on the this pokemon is 30. that means that it has zer0 Individual Values. and the highest one i ever saw - and will ever see - was 45. that pokemon has IVs of 15. get it?
now, shinies must have these IVs to be shiny:
attack: 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14 or 15 so there is a 1/2 chance of the wild pokemon getting this right
def: 10 - 1/15 chance of getting this right
spec. att: 10 - 1/15 chance of getting this right
spec. def: 10 - 1/15 chance of getting this right
speed: 10 - 1/15 chance of getting this right
hit points: do not play a part in getting shinies
so lets multiply them to get our answer:
1/2 times 1/15 times 1/15 times 1/15 times 1/15 =
2,531 out of every 10,000,000 pokemon rounds off to one in every 3,951 pokemon. And these odds are independant, which means that even if you have seen 3,951 non-shiny pokemon, you still have a 1/3,951 chance of finding one
IVs also determine what hidden power you get, and shinies get either:
- hidden power grass, 50 base damage
- hidden power dragon, 50 base damage
- hidden power grass, 70 base damage!
- hidden power dragon, 70 base damage!
but its too hard to explain how IVs (sometimes called DVs) infleunce hidden power, so heres a link to a site which CAN explain that! http://dynamic3.gamespy.com/~psypoke/gsc/dvguide.php
Note: in Ruby/sapphire, there is a different system of IVs. they vary from one to thirty-one, and make it EXTREMELY difficult to get a shiny or a pokemon with the right hidden power.
Anyways, i just got a shiny onix! (it was such a shock when i heard that twinkling sound at the start of the battle)and in crystal, i have a shiny crobat!
just post some of the shinies you found here!

Catch a Gastly in 'Bellsprout Tower' train it untill it evolves into Haunter. Then train Haunter until He/She learns these attacks; Mean Look, Hypnosis, Lick & Night Shade. Now when you encounter Entei, Suicune and/or Raikou, no matter what level your haunter is always use Hypnosis, then Mean look. Then weaken it until it is almost knocked out. Put it to sleep again (unless it's already asleep) go mad throwing Ultraballs, Greatballs and any balls you have in your pack until you catch it. When the ball appears after you have thrown it Hold B+Up. keep doing this until you cat it/them.

First, I will need to say where are the Legendary Dogs. The Lightning one is above of the 7th city WITH the gym. Go to the GRASSY(not water)areas to find it. The Water one is on the left side of the 7th city(GRASSY not WATER). The fire one is on the left side of the 4th city WITH the gym. Go though the guard and go to the GRASSY areas. All of these are level 40. Heres the tip: Each time you see a wild Pokemon, one of the Dogs will change location. So you need to look in your Pokedex and see the new locations they are in. It might be tricky, but its worth it. If you get it, it is like getting instant Level 40.

Pokebälle, also kannst Du noch keine Pokémon fangen.
Du machst Dich also auf
sagen.
===
Warum Otachi? Nun, es kann nicht nur ZERSCHNEIDER sondern
auch noch SURFER lernen. Taubsi (Pidgey) ist auch keine schlechte Wahl. Und dann noch
Kleinstein (Geodude).
Tempelmeister. Nachdem Du ihn besiegt hast bekommst Du VM BLITZ.
===
===
===
===
eingesetzt).
===
Geh also erst
Radioturm: Du hast jetzt also sieben Orden und Utsugi ruft Dich mal wieder an.
besiege Team Rocket.
Besiege
mal wieder Team Rocket und damit bist Du hier fertig.
===
aussieht). Such danach, Du brauchst es bald.
Geh Höhle so halb rechts. Lass Dich
also Geduld.
===
Dich an.
===
===
Hanada und der blaue Orden (ORDEN 11)
Geh wieder nach Yamabuki und nach Norden. Du bist jetzt in Hanada.
===
(Giga Drain) besiegen.
===
===
Also zurück nach Kuchiba
In Nivi angekommen musst Du Takeshi
===
===
wenig, was man einsetzen kann. Hier kann man mit Ausdauer viel ausrichten. Versuch ihn so

Catch a slowbro (or evolve a slowpoke) and give it the symbol of King. Then trade slowbro to another game and it should change into a Yadoking.
