If you want one of the rare Pokemon,either Kabuto or Omanyte Go to the left of Pewter City and you will find a trail.Follow the trail and you will come to Mt. Moon.Go in and if you follow the trail right inside Mt. Moon you will find a guy.Beat the guy and he will tell you to pick one of the fossils infront of him.If you want a Kabuto pick the one on the left.If you want a Omanyte pick the one on the right.
