Thousands of years ago, an order of the wisest men in the Far Easat received visions of a dark and chaotic realm. This realm ruled by the vicious emperor Shao Kahn came to be known as the Outworld.
The wise men knew that travel between the dark realm and Earth would someday be possible if the conditions were right - those conditions being the unbalancing of the Furies, negative and positive forces which keep our unstable universe from collapsing onto itself.
Knowing that the imminent Outworld invasion would prove too much for Earth, the wise men appealed to the Elder Gods. It was for this reason the Elder Gods created the tournament called Mortal Kombat. Through this contest, we protect not only the safety of the realm, but the existence of our souls.
Evil Reborn:
For centuries, Earth has used Mortal Kombat to defend itself against Shao Kahn. But Kahn becomes frustrated by failed attempts at taking Earth through tournament battle. He decides to enact a plan which began almost 10,000 years ago. It was a time when Kahn had a queen. Her name was Sindel, and her early death was unexpected.
Conquest:
Kahn's shadow priests, led by the sorcerer Shang Tsung, would make it so Sindel's spirit would someday be reborn - not in the Earth realm itself. This unholy act gives Shao Kahn the power to step through the dimensional gates and reclaim his queen, thus enabling him to finally seize the Earth.
Shao Kahn begins to strip the planet of all human life. He claims every soul as his own. Slowly the Earth begins to transform into part of the Outworld itself.
But there are human souls which Shao Kahn cannot take. These souls belong to the warriors chosen to represent Earth in a new Mortal Kombat. The warriors are scattered throughout the planet and Kahn sends an army of fierce Outworld warriors to find and eliminate them.
Some fo Earth's warriors survive the attacks. Most do not. But the remaining few hold the one chance at saving all of humankind...

Cyrax:
Cyrax is unit LK-4D4, the second of three prototype cyber-ninjas built by the Lin Kuei. Like his counterpart Sektor, his last programmed mission is to find and terminate the rogue ninja, Sub-Zero. Without a sould, Cyrax goes undetected by Shao Kahn. He remains a possible threat against Kahn's occupation of Earth.
Jax:
After failing to convince his superiors and the U.S. government of the coming Outworld menace, and despite the added weight of Sonya's witness, Jax begins to covertly prepare for future battles with Shao Kahn's minions. He outfits both his arms with indestructible bionic attachments.
Kabal:
As a chosen warrior, his true identity is the ultimate mystery. It is believed that he is the survivor of a vicious squads. As a result, he is now grotesquely scarred and kept alive by artificial respirators and a rage for ending Shao Kahn's conquest. Before invasion, Kabal lived a life of crime. He was once a member of the Black Dragon alongside Kano.
Kano:
Thought to be dead after the first tournament, Kano is found alive in the Outworld. He once again escapes capture by Lt. Sonya Blade. Before the actual Outworld invasion, Kano manages to convince Shao Kahn to spare his soul. Kahn needs someone to teach his warriors how to use the scientifically advanced weapons of Earth, and Kano is the man to do it.
Kung Lao:
After the destruction of his Shaolin temple and the loss of his brother monks, Kung Lao plans to reform his old group, The White Lotus Society. His plan comes to a halt when Shao Kahn begins his invasion of Earth. As a chosen warrior, Kung Lao must use his greatest fighting skills to bring down Shao Kahn's reign of terror.
Liu Kang:
After the Outworld invasion, Liu Kang finds himself the prime target of Kahn's extermination squads. He is the Shaolin champion and his thwarted Shao Kahn's schemes in the past by winning the last Mortal Kombat. Of all the humans, Liu Kang poses the greatest threat to Shao Kahn's rule over the Earth Realm.
Nightwolf:
He worked as a historian and preserver of his people's culture. When Shao Kahn's portal opens over North America, Nightwolf uses his knowledge and the magic of his shaman to protect his tribe's sacred land. Kahn's power cannot penetrate this area of Earth. It quickly becomes a dangerous threat to Shao Kahn's rule.
Sektor:
Sektor is actually the code name for unit LK-9T9 - the first of three prototype cybernetic ninjas built by the Lin Kuei. Sektor was once a Kuei. He volunteered for automation because of his strong loyalty for the clan. More machine than man, Sektor survived the Outworld invasion - he has no soul for Shao Kahn to take.
Shang Tsung:
As Shao Kahn's lead sorcerer, Shang Tsung fell out of favor with his emperor after falling to win the Earth through tournament battle. But the ever scheming and often traitorous wizard is instrumental in Kahn's conquest of the Earth Realm. He has now been granted more power than ever.
Sheeva:
She was enlisted by Shao Kahn as Queen Sindel's personal protecter. But Sheeva becomes suspicious of Shao Kahn's loyalty toward her race -the Shokan- when he places Motaro as the leader of his extermination squads. On the Outworld Montaro's race of Centaurians have always been the natural enemy of the Shokan.
Sindel:
She ruled the Out world at Shao Kahn's side as his queen 10,000 years ago. Now she is reborn on Earth. Key to Kahn's occupation of Earth, her evil intentions are every match for his tyranny. Unknown to Sindel, her true king was named Jerrod. They had a daughter named Kitana and once ruled a realm called Edenia - before Kahn snatched in away and murded Jerrod. Kahn forced an unwilling Sindel to be his queen and took Kitana as his own daughter.
Sonya Blade:
She disappeared after the first Mortal Kombat, but was later rescued from the Outworld by Jax, who entered the tournament to free her. After returning to Earth through the dimesional gate she and Jax try to warn the U.S. government of the Outworld menace. Lacking proof, they can only watch helplessly as Shao Kahn begins his invasion.
Stryker:
When the Outworld portal opens over a large city in North America, panic and chaos rage out of control. Kurtis Stryker was the leader of a riot control brigade when Kahn began his unholy task of taking souls of every human. As a chosen warrior, Stryker finds himself the lone survivor of a city populated by millions.
Sub-Zero:
The younger brother of the original returns - now unmasked. Double-crossed by his own ninja clan, he leaves and is marked for assassination for breaking sacred codes of honor. Unlike the ninja of old, his pursuers are automated machines. As a chosen warrior, Sub-Zero must not only defend against the Outworld, but also elude his soulless assassins. Before automation, Smoke and Sub-Zero were allies.
Smoke:
Smoke is unit LK-7T2, the third prototype cyber-ninja. Smoke was captured when he and Sub-Zero tried to escape the Lin Kuei's automation process. Smoke is now a cyborg assassin with a mission to find and kill his old partner. His memories are stripped away, leaving behind an emotionless killer. However, Sub-Zero believes that somewhere i nthis machine is a human soul trying to escape.

Motaro:
In the realm of the Outworld, Montaro's race of Centaurians has long since come into conflict with the Shokan. When Shao Kahn formed special extermination squads to eliminate the Chosen Warriors of Earth, Motaro was appointed to head this elite group of Savage Warriors.

Shao Kahn:
Many decades ago, Shao Kahn rose to power in the Outworld, usurping the realm from Kitana's parents and taking Queen Sindel for his bride. But she died. Now, centuries later, Sindel is reborn. And since Shang Tsung failed to win the Earth Realm through Mortal Kombat I and II, her rebirth is the means by which Kahn will finally seize the planet forever unless...

This three hit attack takes away 19% from your oppenents power.
High Punch, High Punch, Low Punch
This three hit combo causes 18% damage to your victim.

Let's just say this, whoever Jax is fighting, well they get his SOLE. Jax turns into a giant and steps on his oppenent.

SPECIAL MOVES:
Gotcha Grab and Punch ~ Forward, Forward, Low Punch
Jax grabs his victim and hits them. HINT: the more times you tap Low Punch, the more times Jax will hit his oppenent.
Ground Smash ~ hold Low Kick for about three seconds the release it
Jax hits the ground and it does damage to the victim.
Double Missle ~ Forward, Forward, Back, Back, High Punch
Jax will shoot two missles at his oppenent.
Shoulder Slam ~ Forward, Forward, High Kick
Jax runs across the screen and hits his oppenent.
Gotcha Throw ~ Forward + Low Punch
Jax can do a very special throw. If you keep tapping low punch, Jax will slam the oppenent to the ground however many times you hit low punch.
COMBOS:
High Punch, High Punch, Block, Low Punch, Back + High Punch
This five hit combo will take away around 25% of the enemies energy
High Kick, High Kick, Back + High Kick
This is an ok three hit attack.
High Punch, High Punch, Block, Low Punch
This four hit combo takes away aroung 20% of your oppenents power.

Kabal takes his spear and roast marshmallows over a campfire.

He uses a pump and inflates his victoms head until it explodes.
Fatality Two ~ Run, Block, Block, Block, High Kick (close)
Kabal takes off his mask and shows what Shao Kahn and his crew have done to him.
SPECIAL MOVES:
Purple Fireball ~ Back, Back, High punch
Kabal throws a purple fireball. This move can also been done while in the air.
Tornado Spin ~ Back, Forward, Low Kick
He runs at the oppenent fast and sends them into a spin.
Gear Slice ~ Back, Back, Back, Run
He summons a spinning thing from off of the screen.
COMBOS:
Back, Forward, Low Kick, High Punch, High Punch, High Kick, Back + High Kick
This is a good five hit attack. It takes away 25% of your victims energy.
Low Kick, Low Kick, High Punch, High Punch, Down + Low Punch, Down + High Punch
This is the best combo for Kabal. This six hit attack takes away an amazing 37% of your victims power.

Kano will take a piece of gum from his belt and blow a bubble that pops in his face.

Kano morphs into a tarantula.
Fatality One ~ hold Low Punch, Forward, Down, Down, Forward, release Low Punch (close)
Kano puts his hand in the victims mouth and pulls out their skeleton.
Fatality Two ~ Low Punch, Block, Block, High Kick
Kano uses the laser beam in his eye to destroy the opppenent.
Stage Fatality ~ Up, Up, Back, Low Kick
SPECIAL MOVES:
Air Throw ~ while in the air hit Block
This move is good for oppenents that like to jump in the air a lot. Kano makes his oppenent to crash back to the sweet, old Earth.
Roll ~ hold Low Kick for around three seconds the release it.
This is exactly what the name of the move is.
COMBOS:
High Punch, High Punch, High Kick, Low Kick, Back + High Kick
This five hit combo causes around 25% damage.
High Kick, High Kick, Low Kick, Back + High Kick
This four hit attack causes 23% damage.
High Punch, High Punch, Back + High Kick, Back + Low Kick, Back + High Kick
This five hit attack takes away 26% of your victim's power.
High Kick, High Kick, Back + Low Kick
This is an ok combo attack.

Kung Lao and his victim play fetch together.

Kung Lao turns himself into a cheetah and destroys his oppenent.

Lao takes his hat and throws it at the victim. It goes across the screen four times and each time it hits the oppenent.
Fatality Two ~ Block + Run, Block + Run, Down
Lao spins around extremely fast and sucks in the oppenents body. Then he throws out the bones.
Stage Fatality ~ Down, Down, Forward, Forward, Low Kick
SPECIAL MOVES:
Hat Throw ~ Back, Forward, Low Punch
Kung Lao throws his hat at the oppenent and it hits them in the stomach.
Teleport ~ Down, Up
Disappear and then you reappear on the other side of victim.
Flying Kick ~ Down + High Kick while in mid-air
This is exactly what the name says. Lao flys throw the air and does a powerful kick.
Spinning Shield ~ F, D, F, Run
Lao will spin around so he won't get hurt on an attack.
COMBOS:
Low Kick, Low Kick, Block + High Kick
This three hit combo is hard for the oppenent to block.
High Punch, Low Punch, High Punch, Low Punch, Low Kick, Low Kick, Back + High Kick
This seven hit attack will leave your victim stunned because it takes away 34% of their health.

A Mortal Kombat I arcade machine will fall on the oppenent (ouch!!!).

This is kind of common sense to know what this does. Well if you don't know, Liu Kang will put his hands in front of his face and shoot a fireball and his oppenent.
Low Fireball ~ Forward, Forward, Low Punch
Liu Kang will kneel on one knee and shoot a fireball at the victim.
Flying Kick ~ Forward, Forward, High Kick
Liu Kang will jump across the screen and kick the oppenent in the chest.
Bicycle Kick ~ hold Low Kick for around 3 seconds then release Low Kick
Kang will spin his feet and kick the oppenent in the chest. Just like in the movie.
COMBOS:
High Punch, High Punch, Block, Low Kick, Low Kick, High Kick, Low Kick
This seven hit attack will take away around 33% of your oppenents power.
Low Kick, Low Kick, High Kick, Low Kick
This four hit combo will cause around 25% damage to the victim

Nightwolf holds his axe in the air and it is stroke by lightning. The energy is directed to the victim.

Nightwolf sends a thick, bright light through his oppenents body.

Shield Aura ~ Back, Back, Back, High kick
This is kind of like using block, except this is a whole lot better.

Nightwolf charges at the enemy.

Something comes out of Sektor's chest and crushes his oppenent.

Sektor uses a flame thrower to burn his victim.

Straigh Missle ~ Forward, Forward, Low Punch
This is a missle that heads straight toward the oppenent.
Teleport and Punch ~ Forward, Forward, Low Kick
Sektor disappears under the ground and then reappears and gives his victim an uppercut.

High Punch, High Punch, High Kick, Back + High Kick
This four hit attack takes away 22% of the oppenents energy.

This four hit combo does 25% damage to your oppenent.

Sindel spits out a sphere full of intense energy
Shriek Wave ~ Forward, Forward, Forward, high punch
She will scream an irratating scream.

Sindel will float around in the air. You can still do other moves will floating.

Sonya grabs her oppenent by the waist with her legs and flings them. If you have ever watched wrestling they do a move kind of like this except they grab their oppenent by the neck. The wrestling move is called a Hurricarana or Frankensteiner. I don't know why they have two different names for it.
COMBOS:
High Punch, High Punch, Low Punch, Back + High Punch
This four hit attack causes 22% damage to her oppenent.
High Kick, High Kick, High Punch, High Punch, Low Punch, Back + High Punch
This six hit attack will take away around 33% of your victims health.

Sub-Zero grabs his victim's body, freezes it and takes it above his head. When he has the frozen body above his head, Sub-Zero breaks it in half.

In this section, I will tell you the moves that the bosses do and give you tips on how to avoid some of the moves.

/ Motaro _________________________________________________________
Motaro is the first out of two bosses you have to verse to beat the game. Be prepared for Motaro to teleport a lot. One of the most common moves Motaro does is grab you with one and and punch you with his free arm. This takes away a lot of your health and it can't be block. Another move that Motaro does often is punch you across the screen. It doesn't do a whole lot of damage and it can be blocked. A move that takes away a lot of your power is when he kicks you with his hind feet. This move can be blocked. An easy move to dodge that he does is a tail whip. Motaro swings his tail at you. Just jump over it. Watch out for the fireballs that Motaro shoots out of his tail. That is about all of the attacks that I have seen from Motaro. An easy way to defeat him is to uppercut him and do flying kicks.

/ Shao Kahn ______________________________________________________
Shao Kahn is the last boss that you have to defeat. Kahn likes to laugh at you a lot, so when he is laughing at you attack. Try to keep away from the corners of the screen. Watch out for Kahn's shoulder charge. It is probably his most powerful move. He also likes to use a giant hammer to hit you. He likes to shoot a huge green fireball at you. He also likes to jump in the air and knee you. Again, use the upppercut as much as you can to defeat Shao Kahn.

In this section, It will tell you the endings are for each character. All info from this section was taken from the Mortal Kombat 3 game.
Cyrax:
Cyrax is captured by Sub-Zero and reprogramed with new orders: destroy Shao Kahn. With Kahn unable to detect the assassin's soulless presence, Cyrax delivers a succussful sneak attack. But, after eliminating Kahn and saving Earth, Cyrax awaits new orders from his Lin Kuei headquarters. The orders never come and Cyrax malfunctions. He ends up stranded in the middle of a vast desert. Blindly heading towards his base.
Jax:
The second time Jax battles the forces of Shao Kahn he comes prepared. Thought to be the strongest man on Earth he has no problem proving it: first by beating Kahn's armies then by defeating the emperor himslef. When the world reverts back to normal, Jax and Sonya start the Outerworld Investigation Agency. Jax runs the exploratory division which learns to open portals through science rather than magic. He leads the first expedition into a mysterious new realm.
Kabal:
After returning form near death, Kabal swears revenge against his attackers. He fights alongside the other Earth warriors. When he defeats Motara and the might Shao Kahn, he proves that he truly is the chosen one. Before the invasion, Kabal lived a life of crime. He was once a member of the Black Dragon along with Kano. Now Kabal devotes his life to fighting injustice: he will give crimes inner circles a new reason to fear.
Kano:
When Shao Kahn lets Kano live he fails to realize the resourcefulness of the scheming human. Kano lures Kahn's army away on a false mission: the nukes them using a stolen weapon. He fights the remaining warriors and finally defeats Kahn himself. Kano's true intention is to take over the souls which Kahn once possessed. But Kano is unable to control the spirits as they escape and attack him. Rumoured to have suffered a violent death, Kano was ignorant of the fact that he saved the world he tried to conquer.
Kung Lao:
When Kahn invades Earth, Kung Lao must scrap his plans of reuniting the white lotus society. He instead must focus on the new tournament. He seeks Liu Kang and together they battle Kahn's forces fearlessly. Using the knowledge he obtained as a Shaolin Monk, he fights in the name of his great ancestor - the original Kung Lao. He emerges victorious but suffers from injuries during battle with Kahn. Believed to have passed away, Kung Lao joins his ancestor in a new life.
Liu Kang:
After thwarting Shao Kahn in the past, Liu Kang finds himself the main target of Kahn's extermination squads. But Kang is the reigning Mortal Kombat champion and proves it by easily defeating Kahn's minions. But it's the apparent death fo his friend Kung Lao that enrages Kang and enables him to find the strength to defeat Shao Kahn. Then before the portal closes, Liu Kang is greeted by Princess Kitana and thanked for saving the Earth and the Outworld.
Nightwolf:
When the Earth returns to its normal state, Nighwolf peacefully regains the lands his Native-American people lost over many years. They establish their own proud nation and soon become the great leaders of Earth. Nightwolf helps other Earth warriors escape his sacred land. Once there, they regroup and form a plan of attack against Shao Kahn's invasion. Nightwolf was trained hard for this battle: finally, he faces Shao Kahn and emerges victorious.
Sektor:
After eventually terminating Sub-Zero, Sektor is attacked by Shao Kahn's army. Unfamiliar with the Outworld warriors, Sektor fights back. He targets Kahn and all Outworld beings as threats to the Lin Kuei. Kahn's minions are no match for Sektor, who fights his way into the fortress. Once inside, Sektor initiates his self destruct sequence. The resulting explosion is so massive that it closes the portal and returns Earth back to normal.
Shang Tsung:
When Shao Kahn overtakes the Earth he needs Shang Tsung to help locate the surviving humans. Granted new powers, he soon discovers his dark emperor's true plan: as soon as the remaining warriors are disposed of, Kahn will take Tsung's own soul. After learning of this, Tsung turns on his master. He cathces Motaro off guard and then defeats Shao Kahn. But before the Earth can return to normal, Tsung takes all the souls as his own. He will forever rule Earth with his own brand of evil.
Sheeva:
While Sheeva serves her master on Earth, her race of Shokan are being punished on the Outworld. Kahn now favors Motaro's race on Centaurs and aids them in defeating the Shokan. After learning of these events, Sheeva turns on her master. She defeats Motaro adn in a rage, brings down Kahn. In freeing the Earth, she also frees the Outworld. She then returns home and works to restore the pride and respect of her race.
Sindel:
Sindel receives visions of her true past and turns against Shao Kahn. She discovers that her true king was named Jerrod. They once had a daughter named Kitana and ruled a realm called Edenia: before Kahn took it away in their own Mortal Kombat. He used Sindel as a pawn in his quest for Earth and took Kitana as his own daughter. But in defeating Shao Kahn, Sindel frees the Earth. In doing so, she also liberates Edenia and insures a reunion with her 10,000 year old daughter - Kitana.
Sonya:
Sonya defeats her arch enemy, Kano high atop a skyscraper near Shao Kahn's fortress. She then comes face to face with the emperor himself. In an incredible display of courage, Sonya wins. When the world returns to its normal state, Sonya has no troulbe convincing her superiors to form the Outerworld Investigation Agency: devoted to protecting the Earth against the possible future invasions from other realms.
Stryker:
Ignorant of why his soul was spared from the Outerworld invasion, Stryker receives a vision from Raiden. His is instructed to trave west. He eventually meets the rest of Earth's warriors and learns the true meaning of his survival. He travels back to the city he swore to protect. Kahn is unfamiliar with this new Kombatant and is caugh off guard. Stryker defeats the Warlord and saves teh entire planet. The chaos that consumed the city in the hours before the invasion are gone.
Sub-Zero:
In vicious battle, Sub-Zero faces Cyrax and Sektor: But not alone. He finds his third Lin Kuei assassin - the elusive Smoke. Before automation, Smoke and Sub-Zero were allies. Sub-Zero helps Smoke recall his past and gains him as an ally once again. Sub-Zero defeats his cyborg assassins with the help of Smoke and finds it takes all his own inner strengths to defeat Kahn and his Outworld minions. The former ninja once again disappears into the shadows. His legacy known only by a select few.

When you use Babality, you turn your oppenent into a baby. It is simple to do Babalities. Just wait until the FINISH HIM/HER words come on the screen, tap in the buttons for the character you have.
If you are tired of fatalities, etc. to your enemies, beat them up until the FINISH HIM/HER words come on the screen, try Friendship. Just tap in the buttons for the character you have. Friendship allows you to do something nice to your oppenent, but it stills counts as a victory for you.

Before you can do an Animality to your victim, you must first grant the Mercy. Mercy restores your oppenents health a little bit. To grant them Mercy, wait until the FINISH HIM/HER words come on the screen, then hold down Run and hit the directional pad 4 times and let go of the run button. Also, before you can grant anyone Mercy, you and your oppenent must have won one round each. In other words, you can only do it in the third round of a fight.
After you have granted your victim Mercy, kick their butt until the FINISH HIM/HER words appear again, then tap the buttons that you are suppose to for that character.

When you do a Fatality, you literally destroy your enemy. In order to do a Fatality kick their butt until the FINISH HIM/HER appears, then tap in the buttons for the character you have. There is a special Fatality, it is called Stage Fatality. It means when you are at a certain stage, you tap in the buttons for Stage Fatality for the character you have selected. There is only three stages at which you can do a Stage Fatality. They are the Subway, Shao Kahn's Tower, and Pit III. At the Subway, you through your oppenent in front of a moving train. At Shao Kahn's Tower, you throw your victim onto a bed of spikes. At Pit III, you through your enemy on some claw like things.

Tournament mode is actually the Mortal Kombat. After you choose your warrior, you can choose the path you take. There is three different paths: Novice, Warrior, and Master. Novice is the easiest and shortest path there is. You fight six people and the two bosses. In the Warrior path, you fight eight oppenents and then the two bosses. Master is the hardest and longest path you can choose. In ther Master path, you figh and outstanding ten warriors and then the two bosses.
