Before starting World Player mode, create your player by overwriting a current player who is a free agent or retired. When you trade him to your favorite team, set his position to only one. You may need to do the same to other players, so the coach will not be tempted to play you in an alternate position, which is especially important for a striker. After you start World Player mode, try to alter the formation before loading each game until you get your desired spot.
