Use Petey Piranha Plant Effectively:

Use any player. Charge the ball until you see a blue ring. Release the shot while the ring is visible. Repeat until you have Super Captain ability (mudsling). Pass to Petey (if you're not already using him). Sling mud all around you. Then, charge up a mega strike. During the mega strike, your opponents will be greatly slowed.
