Boss: Elite Pirate |
This Phazon-infused Frankenstein might be the result of years of work by the Space Pirates, but he's much weaker than he looks. He can absorb shots from your Power Beam, so try to hit him with Super Missiles. Dodge his shots by hiding behind the pillars in the room. Also, if he slams his fists to the floor sending out a shock wave, just double jump to avoid it. Nailing him with two good Super Missile shots should do him in.
|
|
Boss: Hive Mecha |
Thought you could have those missiles for free did you? Think again. You've got to earn your power-ups. In this case, you have to take on a machine that spits out Ram War Wasps -- don't forget to scan them. The same goes for the Hive Mecha, but you'll have to aim your scanner just underneath the water to access its data. After you've finished those important scans, focus on the battle at hand. The Hive Mecha will spit out numerous Wasps which can knock you into the harmful acidic water around you. Fend them off by manually aiming at them and locking on to them when still. Once they are gone, the Hive Mecha will reveal its weak spot when it prepares to expel a new batch. It's a giant red light, so it's an easy target. Just be sure to shoot it as soon as you see it; it disappears fast. Once you destroy all four of its weak spots, you will be able to pick up the Missile Launcher across the bridge.

|
Boss: Incinerator Drane ( Flamethrower Machine) |
In the Chozo ruins you will come to a machine that is pretty much an automatic flame thrower. To defeat it first you dodge its flames. Then the top part will come out with a red circle. Keep shooting that until the machine burns the bee hive. Then a bunch a bees will come out and try to attack you. Kill all of them and dodge the flames. (Make sure you scan the wasps in this fighting cause its a defferent kind). Keep repeating this process about 3 times. Then it should explode and you will get the morph-ball bomb. |
|
Boss: Omega Pirate |
On the bottom floor lies the strongest Pirate alive. Once you get to its chamber, don't get too close. Just close enough to scan it. Once you've scanned it run up to it. Now comes the hard part. To defeat him, first wait till he slams his fists on the ground. Double jump to dodge it. Then shoot him in the left leg, or arm, or the right leg, or arm. (To make it fast, use the red beam). After you broke all of its joints, turn on your x-ray vision, and wait. In a couple seconds with your x-ray vision on, you should see Omega standing in one of the phason puddles. Shoot him with the red beam in the stomach. Now you have to restart this all over again. But its life should be lower. After the first time doing this, once you destroy the joints and have to use the x-ray, Omega will sent out pirates to help him. Kell them quickly and attack Omega with your x-ray vision on again. Repeat this until Omega dies. If you kill Omega, you will get the Phazon suit and will be able to walk in Phazon. |
|
Boss: Parasite Queen |
First thing's first: scan the beast, download the information to your log book and learn of its weak spot in its mouth. If you don't do this, killing it will take much longer. Lock on to its mouth and get to work. Stay locked and use the B-button (jump) in conjunction with pressing left or right on the analog to side step. You can avoid the huge green beams of energy that she spits at you. You can also use missiles (Y-button) to speed up the process. The trick is that you have you position yourself so you can shoot through the gaps in the cylindrical blue shield that surrounds her. She shouldn't be too difficult to beat.
|
|
Boss: Ridley (looks Like A Dragon) |
Their are 2 phases to defeating Ridly. Once you have returned all of the chozo artifacts, you will come across Ridly again. To defeat him, wait till it opens its mouth. Then lock onto it and fire (Use the red beam). Sometimes he will fly around, but just wait until he tries to attack you again. Once you get its life down about half way, it will start to fly around a lot. When Ridly swoops down near you, dodge the bombs Ridly drops. Then once it stops flying start attacking its mouth again. Phase 2: Once you get Ridly's life down about 3/4s, its wings will burn up. Now Ridly will start to charge at you. Keep moving out of the way until Ridly charges up a beam. Now when it is charging up a beam attack it with your red beam. Then it will be stunned, now attack its belly. Keep repeating this until Ridly falls off the platform. When you defeat him, go into the light and you will be able to go into impact crater. |
|
Boss: Sheegoth |
Sheegoth looks similar to a turtle with a spiky frozen back. To defeat Sheegoth, you have to stay away from it. Then when Sheegoth charges up a power ball in its mouth, dodge it, and shoot power balls (or missiles) at it. Keep repeating this until Sheegoth dies. (Note) Only shoot Sheegoth after it attacks you. If you defeat Sheegoth, you will get the wave beam. |
|
Boss: Thardus |
Be sure to scan for vital Log Book data immediately. You'll find that Thardus, a rock structure infused with Phazon, cannot be targeted as usual. The data suggests you should try another visor, and that's just what you need to do. Use your Thermal Visor to locate the hot spots on Thardus. You'll be able to lock on to him while using this visor. You can easily crack the highlighted stone portion of his body with the use of charge blasts and missiles. Try not to get too antsy and use Super Missiles just yet. Save those for a bit. When the Phazon-infused rock cracks open, it will expose the highly radioactive material beneath it. The material is far too bright for your Thermal Visor, so just switch it off and you'll be able to lock on as usual. Repeat the same process of hitting the weak spot with charge blasts and missiles, all the while sidestepping out of his line of fire.
Thardus will often summon rocks from beneath the ground and toss them your way. Take the moment to lock on to them and blast them to pieces. Note: if you're in Thermal Visor mode and try this, the Phazon material inside will blind you. If you get frozen by Thardus, just quickly tap the B-button to get out of it. Another attack that you must get a handle on is his boulder form. You will him animate, leaning back and then curling up in ball form. This is your cue to turn into a Morph Ball and boost out of the way. It's important that you memorize this animation. As soon as he begins to roll into a ball, do the same and boost out of the way. Thardus will also summon snow storms to blur your view. Try not to let it disorient you too much, and use your Thermal Visor when possible to cut through the haze. When it gets to the point that his Phazon is exposed during a snow storm and you cannot see him, try to get as close as possible and use those Super Missiles. You should eventually be able to work him down to the final center point of his body. Work through it and he will die.

Classic Metroid: Super Bomb |
Charge a weapon with the Tri Laser, then drop a bomb.

|
Defeating The Plant Boss |
The trick is to knock down the light-reflecting mirrors and bomb the plant away. At first, there is only one mirror that reflects the light and helps grow the plant. Fire at the Boss with normal fire rapidly until it is stunned; there is no need for heavy firearms. It will not be able to attack you at all if you stun it on time. After the plant Boss is stunned, run to the one reflecting mirror and shoot the red target behind the mirror with either a charge beam or only one missile. The plant will shrink and its spiky roots will vanish. Roll into a ball, go into where the roots were protecting, and drop a bomb. The plant is killed, but returns with two mirrors. Do the same thing with two mirrors, then three mirrors, then finally four mirrors. After finally killing the plant, the Varia Suit is yours.

Defeating Troopers And Pirates |
Power Troopers
Use Normal Beams or charge a Normal Beam at it three to four times.
Wave Troopers
Use Wave Beams or charge a Wave Beam at it (two to four times).
Ice Troopers
Use Ice Beams or charge an Ice Beam at it and finish it with one missile.
Shadow Pirates
Use the Thermal Visor to see them. Use Wave Beams or charge a Wave Beam at it at full force (two to four times); or, fire with ease with the Plasma Beam.
Plasma Troopers
Fire at them with your Plasma Beam three or four times. Hide behind a wall and the Plasma Beam will end up finishing them with its burning effect. Do this to other pirates as well, even though they only need about three shots to be killed, only about one will evaporate them if you just wait patiently.

|
Double Missile |
This trick requires 2 missiles. Press the Y button to fire a missile, then press the A button & the Y button at the same time right after the 1st missile. The 2nd missile launches right after the 1st one! It's a lot faster than just firing missiles one after the other.

Who's that huge bird like creature in the cut-scenes?
He's none other than your old foe, Ridley. If you played Super Metroid, this should seem familiar to you. Ridley is a powerful Space Pirate leader with a mechanical makeover for Prime. Don't worry about trying to catch him - you won't confront him until much later in the game.
Strategy: Space Pirate
You'll be encountering various flavors of these annoying Pirates later in the game. Most in the frigrate are near death, and only take a few shots to down. However, use strafing techniques for others, and position yourself behind walls, charge a beam, and let them have it. This strategy is used a lot later in the game.
Strategy: Parasite Queen
Your first boss is encountered after only a few rooms. It's not a tough battle but can be imposing for the newcomer. First, remember to scan the Parasite Queen before the battle. To blast away this beast, charge your power beam by holding down the A button, and lock onto the Queen by Holding L. Now, with move left and right on the D-pad to strafe around the arena. When there's a break in the force field that holds the Parasite Queen, blast it with your charged slot. Continue strafing and hit it with everything you've got - but she's only vulnerable when the force field is broken up. Avoid her attacks by strafing and tapping the b button. The Parasite queen goes down pretty fast, and starts a self destruct sequence.
I need help escaping!
You have six minutes to get out of the Space Station. Backtrack as much as possible and enter the air large air ducts. Maneuver through every one avoiding the little parasites, turn at the end and enter the next duct. After this you'll wind up in a room with a door on the other side- blast it to escape the space station, and see Ridley fly off.
Tallon Overworld FAQ
* I can't find a save station.
* How can I get to the door behind the gunship?
* Where are the space boots?
* Where's the X Ray Visor?
* How can I get into the Frigate crash site?
I can't find a save station.
While Tallon Overworld dosen't have the type of save station in other game areas, it has something even better: Samus's ship. Jump on top of the gunship and you can not only save your game, but replenish all of your energey and ammunition as well. This is very useful later in the game if your'e low on power bombs or missles.
How can I get to the door behind the gunship?
This door lies on a legde behind the gunship, and is unreachable with a standard jump. To reach this door, you'll need to obtain the boost ball first (from a different area in the game). Once you get it, head to the half pipe and boost up onto a ledge. Follow the path by jumping and hop over to the legde with the door.
Where are the space boots (double jump)?
Follow the strategy above to get into the door behind the gunship. Inside this door are the space boots. This powerup enables you to jump twice in a row in mid air. Hint: Head back to Phendrana drifts after getting these boots.
Where's the X Ray Visor?
After visiting the Phazon Mines, and obtaining the power bombs, you'll be able to access areas of Tallon overworld previously unreachable. One such is a large cylendrical room that the game points you to through the hint system. At the bottom is the visor. Hint: equip the X Ray visor immediately and look at the walls.
How can I get into the Frigate crash site?
You need the ice beam before attempting this, so make sure it's ready to go. In the overworld, enter a small duct near the back of the ship, and roll into a room that is connected to the crash site. Kill the pirates and jump into the water. The double jump comes in handy here. When you reach the edge, enter morph ball mode and roll through a tunnel underwater to reach the shore. Shoot the door with the ice beam, and your'e in.
Chozo Ruins FAQ
* How can I get that energy tank in the main room?
* How can I open the doors with a deep red covering?
* Strategy: War Wasps
* Mini Boss Strategy: Plated Beetle
* Where is the Morph Ball?
* Where are the Morph Ball Bombs?
* Mini Boss Strategy: Hive Mecha
* Mini Boss Strategy: Incinerator Drone
* Boss Strategy: Flaahgra
* Enemey Strategy: Chozo Ghosts
How can I get that energy tank in the main room?
The second room after entering the Chozo Ruins for the first time has a seemingly unreachable energy tank on a high perch. To get to it, enter the room called "vault", and enter into the "Plaza access tunnel". After doing away with some beetles, the energy tank is yours!
How can I open the doors with a deep red covering?
These doors can only be opened with missiles. You will obtain the missile launcher later in the Chozo Ruins, after fighting the Hive Mecha mini boss. Unlike missile doors in Super Metroid, the ones in Prime only take one missile to unlatch, then open it with your arm cannon.
Strategy: War Wasps
War Wasps are heavily reoccurring enemies in the Chozo Ruins. They only take a few shots each to kill, but can be a nuisance when attacking in swarms. Keep a safe distance and change targets as soon as one is destroyed - and don't waste any missiles on the bugs themselves. Instead, if you want to get rid of the Wasps in that area, destroy the war wasp hive with a missile blast. Useful in some areas, but once you re-enter the room they will have reconstructed the nest. As long as you're moving and shooting, the wasps don't stand a chance.
Mini Boss Strategy: Plated Beetle
This "mother of all beetles" will be found as a regular enemy later on, but for now, you have to rid of it to claim your morph ball. Don't bother hitting the bug with standard weaponry. Instead, lock on the beetle and press left and right plus B to dash. If you can manage to circle the beetle and see it's red butt, shoot at it. This is it's only weak point. Alternatively, wait for it to charge at you, giving you a perfect shot at its glowing behind. A few charged shots and it's done.
Where Is the Morph Ball?
Kill the first plated beetle (strategy above), and the platform holding the morph ball power up will lower.
Where Are The Morph Ball Bombs?
Once you get the Morph Ball, you'll notice that you can't drop bombs with them like on the Frigate. You will earn these bombs after defeating a mini boss, the Incinerator Droid.
Mini Boss Strategy: Hive Mecha
This first mini-boss can be a real pain, but you'll need to rid of him to earn the missile launcher. As soon as you enter the room and head toward your power up, the mecha will be engaged and you will be forced to fight. Hive Mecha will send war wasps at you. I Found it easiest to aim upwards at roughly the same level the wasps were flying at, without locking on, and simply turn in circles while blasting. After killing a row of wasps, the Mecha reveals it's weak spot. Shoot the red sphere on top of the device with a charged blast to weaken it. It will shoot more wasps at you, but this time two rows. Rid of them and shoot the Mecha again, and you'll have one more round with it. After blasting it away, collect your missile launcher.
Mini Boss Strategy: Incinerator Droid
This robot creature is the third and final mini boss of the Chozo Ruins. It's a droid in the middle of the room that spews flames in different order. Run the way that the flames are heading, keeping it behind you at all times. Lock on to the spot on top of the droid and let him have it. After a few blasts, the droid will shoot fire at the war wasp hive on the ceiling, sending the bugs after you. Lock onto each one and destroy it, then concentrate on the droid once more. After another round, the Incinerator droid is nothing more than a memory. Collect your morph ball bombs!
Boss Strategy: Flaahgra
Your first real boss Battle since the Parasite Queen is a large plant creature, Flaahgra. He has a few menacing attacks but the fight overall is pretty easy. The objective of the fight is to shoot the mirror dishes upward, so they are not giving Flaahgra any sun power. The first round will give you a taste of what to expect further on in the battle. Lock onto Flaahgra and circle the arena, continuously shooting. Don't waste too many missles. Avoid his attacks by strafing, and once Flaahgra is stunned, find the dish that is giving him power. Lock onto it and fire. This will cause Flaahgra to shrink up and "die". Enter morph ball mode and roll into the tunnel holding one of Flaahgra's roots. Bomb it to damage Flaahgra.
Flaahgra will return, but now two dishes will give him power. Follow the same strategy as before, and remember to keep him stunned, or he will simply flip them back down. Flaahgra will now throw up vines and such on the arena- this is poisonous, don't walk into this. Instead, either wait for it to dissapear or carefully manuver it. Unless the strip is right next to a dish, you shouldn't have much of a problem. After hitting both dishes back down, Flaahgra will slither away once again. Bomb his tendrils like before.
You guessed it, Flaahgra will now grab power from three of the four dishes. This time, use one stun to take out two of the dishes if you're fast enough. For the third, quickly stun him again with charged shots and missiles - don't let him undo what you've done! Once he's stunned again take it out on the third shield. Roll into the tendril "cave" and plant another bomb.
This is where things get tough - Flaahgra will now take advantage of every dish in the sunchamber (four in total). In addition, he has a new attack, where he gets up close and personal, throwing you around with that huge neck of his. Avoid this by strafing and double tapping the B button. When your ready to take down the plates, stun him once and take down as many as possible (usually only one or two). As soon as Flaahgra starts moving again, deliver all your firepower to him immediately - missiles, charged blasts, whatever it takes - to get him stunned again. Take out the third plate and shoot Flaahgra on your way to the fourth for good measure. Hit this final plate and bomb his tendrils one last time. He's finally dead!
Enemey Strategy: Chozo Ghosts
Further into the game you will start seeing Chozo Ghosts. The first encounter with these spectral baddies is in the same room that you fought Flaahgra. Because of this, you won't have the X-Ray visor yet. Don't worry. The only thing that damages these guys are power beam shots. Charged blasts and Super Missiles work the best. Wait for the Ghost to be visible and then hit it. For best results, go against a wall so the Chozo Ghosts can't get behind you. Avoid their energy ball attacks like the plauge- but this is a great time to attack them. Don't bother with other weapons. It takes a few charged shots but only one or two Super Missiles to down each Ghost. Focus on them one at a time or you'll never survive.
Magmoor Caverns FAQ
* Enemey Strategy: Magmoor
* Enemey Strategy: Turrents
* I keep getting hurt after killing Puffers!
* Small Creatures keep grabbing me in Morph Ball mode!
* Where is the Plasma Beam?
Enemey Strategy: Magmoor
These huge Dragon creatures may seem intimidating but are actually quite easy to kill. On your first visit to the Caverens, the best way to destroy Magmoors are with charged power beam blasts. About three will take it down. Keep a safe distance and this guy will never touch you. After you get the ice beam, fighting Magmoors become quite funny. You can freeze parts of its body with this beam.
Enemey Strategy: Turrents
This is the first area in the game that mechanical turrents will start inflicting damage. The best strategy for this is to lock on to one, strafe behind a rock or wall, and come out and blast it with a missile. Most of these take two missiles to down.
I keep getting hurt after killing Puffers!
Puffers are the gaseous globs in Magmoor. Destroy them all you like but keep a distance, and wait for the green smoke around them to dissapear. If you step into this gas, you will start loosing energy.
Small Creatures keep grabbing me in Morph Ball mode! These small creatures are called Triclops, and can be killed with a morph ball bomb. Get close to one and lay a bomb. The Triclops will pick it up, thinking that its food (like you would have been), and the bomb will blow it up. These enemies are invunerable to all stand-up fire methods.
Where is the Plasma Beam?
When the time comes for you to get the Plasma beam, the most powerful weapon in the game, the hint system will direct you to the Geothermal Core or Plasma Processing. Enter the Geothermal Core and raise all of the platforms. This will reveal a long winded spider ball track. Complete it and you'll be in front of a room. Inside lies your Plasma Beam.
Phendrana Drifts FAQ
* Enemey Strategy: Baby Sheegoth
* Enemey Strategy: Pulse Bombu
* Mini Boss Strategy: Sheegoth
* Where is the Wave Beam?
* Enemey Strategy: Flying Pirate
* Where is the Thermal Visor?
* Enemey Strategy: Metroid
* Enemey Strategy: Shadow Pirate
* Boss Strategy: Thardus
* Where is the Spider Ball?
* How do I get the power ups behind Ice?
Enemey Strategy: Baby Sheegoth
If you think these hulking creatures are huge, wait until you see their moms. Anyway, the only vunerable part of a Baby Sheegoth is it's icy shell. Get off of ground level ASAP, and jump on a higher platform. From there, aim for the back of the creature and fire charged shots at it, or missiles. If there's not a higher platform anywhere around, circle around it and jump. Aim for the shell on its back. These battles are a lot easier once you get the Space Boots.
Enemey Strategy: Pulse Bombu
These enemies can only be killed with the Wave Beam, which you'll get for destroying a mini boss. One charged shot kills it, but it's attracted to your gun until you shoot. If you don't have the wave beam yet, carefully avoid its blast of electrical enemies. The Bombus in pipes can be avoided by rolling around its waves of energy.
Mini Boss Strategy: Sheegoth
After killing the Baby Sheegoths in this room, the big one will crash through a wall and begin to charge you. She's completley invunerable to normal beam weapons - she'll just absorb your attacks and use them against you. You can try to shoot missiles in its mouth like the scan suggested, but it takes a lot of missiles and drags out the fight. Instead, roll under the beast in morph ball mode and lay as many bombs as possible. You might get stomped on but keep dropping the bombs, and don't come out of morph ball mode until she's dead.
Where is the Wave Beam?
In the room with the Sheegoth and Baby Sheegoths, a Wave beam lies near the far wall. Destroy all of the enemies in this room to gain access to this weapon.
Enemey Strategy: Flying Pirate
The entrance to the lab has Flying Pirates, which can be a huge hassle if your'e not prepared. Scans say that you should use the thermal visor to "find" their missile packs, but thats useless. Instead hit them with missiles and charged shots. Hide behind the crates in this first room. Their missiles have very good homing qualities, so you can't exactly stand still, either. Once you destroy a flying pirate, it lunges toward the ground and explodes, which can cause damage to you.
Where is the Thermal Visor?
In a main lab room, activate all of the security controls to disable the force field in the center of the room. Pick up the thermal visor and watch your back when you try to escape!
Enemey Strategy: Metroid
It says Metroid in the game's title, so you better belive these baddies are nothing short of a nussance. In your first encounter, lock onto them and don't stop shooting! Charged shots and missiles, of course, are the way to go. If a Metroid clamps on to you, stop freaking out and drop a bomb in morph ball mode. Later in the game, when you get the Ice Beam, fighting Metroids is a lot easier. One shot freezes them and one missile blows them up. Sadly the Ice Beam is extremley slow.
Enemey Strategy: Shadow Pirate
When you try to escape after collecting the thermal visor, Metroids and Shadow Pirates will attack. These Shadow Pirates can be killed with any beam, but in this darkness, can only be seen with the thermal visor. A few charged shots will down these Pirates. Remember to strafe and hide behind objects. Keep your distance from Shadow Pirates- they drain a lot of energy when theyr'e close and attacking with that claw.
Boss Strategy: Thardus
Your second real boss fight is with a hulking rock creature, Thardus. He has a few attacks but the fight is quite fun. To get through this fight and lose the least amount of energy, jump on a pile of rocks situated against this rooms walls. This makes you invunerable to Thardus's ice attack, but he can still hit you when you roll into a ball. To begin the fight, enter thermal visor mode and find a pulsing spot. This is Thardus's weak spot. Attack it with missiles, or charged wave and power beam attacks. After a few shots, your thermal visor will overload. Switch back to the combat visor to find that the weak spot is blue. Continue blasting it until it dissapears.
Enter thermal visor again and repeat. When Thardus throws rocks at you, blow each of them up (you can target each one) to get energy and more missiles. When he goes into a ball, you can either stay on your pile and take the damage, or roll around in morph ball mode, boosting yourself out of the way. Remember, once your on flat ground you can get frozen by Thardus's ice attack, so it would be wise to hop back up on the rock pile.
After destroying most of his weak spots, Thardus screams and summons a snowstorm. This makes it hard to see him, but still quite easy to aim. After a couple of more blasts the snow goes away and you face Thardus with one weak spot. Aim high and only shoot when you have a clear shot. Your reward? The Spider ball, and a bunch of energy.
Where is the Spider Ball?
Follow the strategy above to beat Thardus. Run in the middle of the room to claim the Spider Ball.
How do I get the power ups behind Ice?
In the drifts, there is a missile epansion and energy tank behind blocks of ice. When you first encounter these areas, you won't be able to melt the ice. However, after you obtain the plasma beam, head back to both of these areas. One shot is enough to melt the ice and claim your prize!
Phazon Mines FAQ
- Help with the "long strech"
- Mini Boss Strategy: Dynamo Droid
- Where are the power bombs?
- Mini Boss Strategy: Elite Pirate
- Mini Boss Strategy: Phazon Elite
- Boss Strategy: Omega Pirate
Help with the "long strech"
By long strech I am reffering to the distance between the first and second save point in the Mines. You will most likley die here a few times, so here's some helpful hints.
Remember the locations of the pirates - This way, you can hit them before they get a chance to attack. Pirates mostly hang out on the celings or walls before making their moves. Start charging the appropriate beam and smash them right before they get to the ground. Do this as often as possible. Also, arm the correct weapon if you know what type of Pirate will pop out of the next corner.
Don't be trampled into a corner Beam and especially shadow troopers rely heavily on melee combat. Continously dash and jump, keeping as much distance as possible. For shadow troopers, arm your thermal visor and wave beam. One charged shot sends them into convultion - use this to your advantage and back up while charging a second shot. If your fast enough this second charged shot will hit before the trooper has a chance to move in on you.
Blow up crates for energy. You'll need as much as possible on your first visit. Also, remember to charge a shot after killing a room of Pirates to reap the powerups they leave behind.
Mini Boss Strategy: Dynamo Droid
At the end of that hell stretch you'll enter the central dynamo. As soon as you drop down, an invisible droid will begin firing. Take care of this as you would with any other droid in the game. You can't lock on or scan it, so manually aim for the yellow lights that emit from its gunshots. Use super missiles for the most damage, but it has been reported that the wavebuster works quite well. However, when I entered this area I did not have the wavebuster, so chances are you don't either.
Where are the power bombs?
Beat the Dynamo droid and enter the electricial maze. Move slowly. When you enter an area with water, use a morph ball bomb to clear the electric field. Work your way through the maze and collect the power bomb augumentation in the middle of the arena. Thankfully the maze disables after collecting it, and your'e free to save in a nearby room.
Mini Boss Strategy: Elite Pirates
I only call them mini bosses because they're big and you only fight each one once. Fortunatly, they are incredibly easy. First, dodge the energy quakes they send on the ground with a double jump. When you have an open shot and he's not collecting energy, fire a super missile at the Elite. Two super missiles down him.
Mini Boss Strategy: Phazon Elite
This Phazon elite has the exact same attack methods as an Elite Pirate, but is a bit more difficult to finish off. Avoid his ground wave attacks with double jumps, and keep a distance so he dosen't trample you. Always stay locked on. About 6 Super Missiles will kill it.
Boss Strategy: Omega Pirate
This boss is extremley hard and intimitating the first time you see him, but underneath it all he's just a big old Elite pirate with a few special moves and abilites. From the start, Omega will begin by using an advance Wave-Quake similar to those of the other Elite Pirates. Avoid them with double jumps but don't land in the pools of Phazon. Keep your distance from Omega because he's very good at close range melee combat. When you have an open shot, lock on using L and you'll target one of his blue armor plates (made of Phazon). Use charged plasma shots to pick it off. You'll need your super missiles for later. Keep avoiding his attacks while destroying his armor. You'll notice that your'e still not doing any damage to him. Don't worry.
After all of his armor is disenegrated, he will randomly summon beam pirates. I found it easier to avoid them. Double jump like your mother dosen't love you to avoid all of the shots, and arm your X-ray visor. Turn around until you see Omega recharging in one of the Phazon Pools. Lock on and fire a super missile. His life bar will drasticly decrease. If your quick enough, turn to another pool of Phazon where Omega is trying to recharge yet again. Another super missile will damage him further and make him change pools. Again, a skilled player can hit him if he's still early in the recharging phase. The most I've ever gotten was four super missile shots the first time he went invisible, but he still had a smidgen of life left over.
Omega's armor will now be fully recharged. If there's any beam pirates on the ground, his wave attack will destroy them. Ignore the pirates that may cling to the celing - they have a very narrorow slit to fire through so this should be no problem. Blast off all of Omega's plates once again, and he will summon more pirates. Ignore them, or else you'll miss your chance. Quickly enter X-ray visor and wait for Omega to recharge. One or two super missiles may be all you need, but if you only managed to hit him once the first time, try to blast him with as many as possible.
If he's still not dead, you need to practice on firing super missiles fast enough. Once his life bar finally hits zero, Omega will fall ontop of Samus, infecting her suit with Phazon. Don't worry- it's supposed to happen. Samus's gravity suit will now not only look awesome, but you can enter blue Phazon as well.
Artifact Site / Impact Crater FAQ
* Do I have to collect all 12 artifacts?
* Boss Strategy: Meta Ridley
* Enemey Strategy: Fisson Metroids
* Boss Strategy: Metroid Prime
Do I have to collect all 12 artifacts?
Yes. Return all of them to the artifact site to fight the second to last boss, and then gain access to the impact crater.
Boss Strategy: Meta Ridley
By far, this is one of the coolest boss fights I have ever experienced in a video game. Ever. At first, Ridley will fly around the crater and shoot projectiles. Avoid them by continously moving. Eventually he'll dive under the stage- he usually comes up at the opposite side of the arena, so turn immediatly. Lock on to him and shoot charged plasma shots. Don't use your super missiles, because you'll need as many missiles as possible later in the fight. Hurting him in this form is extremley easy and shouldn't even cost you two energy tanks. Sometimes Ridley will land on the ground and snarl, but not really attack. Use this to your advantage and try to hit his chest. While he's flying around the stage, try to track his movements and learn where he'll go next. Take your time and fire away at each chance you get.
When Ridley is down to about 25% health, his wings will burn off and the second phase of the fight will begin. This phase is much tougher than the first. Fortunatly there's a fantastic strategy that will help immensley. If you have the WaveBuster, lock onto Meta Ridley immediatly and use it. Depending on how many missiles you have you can either kill him right here and now or bring him down to a smidgen of health.
If he's still alive (or you don't have the Wavebuster), Keep your distance from Ridley. He will try to charge you, then smash you with his face, and then tail. At this point you may also be stuck, and he will continue to relentlesly attack. It's safe to say that you really should avoid his dash attack. Right when he's about to charge, double tap the B button quickly to get out of his way. Whenever he's not attacking, use super missiles, or charged plasma shots if you don't have any. Charge your beam often to suck in any power ups that may be nearby. Sooner or later you'll have defeated Meta Ridley! Either go back to your ship and save (with all ammo replenished), or head down to the impact crater. I'll meet you there for the next big fight.
Enemey Strategy: Fisson Metroids
The second door past the elevator in the Impact Crater is by far the most annoying in the game. Inside lie Fisson Metroids, which are huge Metroids with the ability to split into two forms. These two Metroids can only be killed with specific weaponry. Thankfully, there's an easy solution to all of this- Power Bombs. Use them wisley. If a Fisson Metroid is near, don't blast it. Enter morph ball mode and lay a power bomb. Try to time it so that two or more Fisson Metroids are in the same general area, so all of them die. Only kill the immediate ones, because I'm pretty sure they respawn after a while.
Boss Strategy: Metroid Prime
Here you are- the final boss! Metroid Prime can be a very tough foe but after some practice, it becomes a fun fight that you may want to play through again. As soon as the first cutscene, follow Prime into the first room. Here will begin your battle. In its first form, Metroid Prime takes the shape of a spider-crab like creature. A quick scan reveals that it's penatrable with certain weaponry in set situations. What this means is that the only thing that can damage Prime is a corresponding weapon to it's current color. For example, Metroid Prime will start with yellow stripes. Here you would need to use the power beam to damage it. Below is a strategy for each color.
Yellow Form
Lock onto Prime and fire Super Missiles into its eyes. It will start by unleasing a powerful charged shot from its mouth. You can tell when its about to do this when Prime starts making a vacum noise. Avoid this with a double jump. Sometimes Prime will shoot slow moving orbs of energy high into the air. Manually aim or lock onto these and fire either a charged shot or super missile. They do tons of damage when hit, so it's very reccomended to take them out. Sometimes these drop powerups. Be sure to charge up your beam to suck in any nearby energy orbs or missile ammunition. In this form Prime also may use two green shards of energy that will suck you toward it. I have yet to avoid this attack successfully, but there's a way to escape it once your in its grasp - use a super missile. It only takes two super missiles to get Metroid Prime out of this form, so act quickly.
Purple Form
This color corresponds with the wave beam. Use charged shots to deal the most damage. Primes attacks are almost exactly the same as it was in the yellow form but now can deactivate your arm cannon for a while. Because of this you must avoid his attacks. Else, Prime could start barraging you with the same attack and there would be no way for you to defend yourself. If MP decides to charge across the room, enter morph ball and quickly boost in the depression in the floor to the other side of the room. You may also use the Wavebuster in this form, but I found it to be a waste off missiles for the most part. A few Charged shots and Prime will chage forms.
White Form
The second hardest phase of Prime's first form. All of the attacks now have an icy aftertaste, making them all the more painful. Sadly, your Ice beam is very slow, too. Avoid his ice beam like the plauge- it will freeze you. He will hit you again. And again. There's quite the possibility that you will remain frozen until death. To avoid this trap simply double jump, but remember to time your jumps correctly. Prime's homing balls are a lot harder to destroy in this phase because the ice beam is so very slow. Wait until there semi close, and fire a charged shot. Remember, most of Prime's attacks can freeze you in this form, so it would be wise to not let them hit you. When you get an open chance to attack, use the Ice Spreader. It will freeze Metroid Prime for a good few seconds. One more charged ice blast and this phase is over.
Red Form
Your Plasma beam's short range and decidley useless special attack makes this the hardest, if not longest phase of Metroid Prime. Instead of freezing you or disabling your weapons, his attacks now have a lasting effect. If you are hit with Prime's plasma beam, you will continue to take damage for a few seconds. MP loves shooting gaseous green globs at you in this phase, which are harmful in a way similar to Puffers. Avoid the globs of gas that are left behind and fire charged plasma shots whenever possible. The flamethrower does next to nothing here, so don't bother.
There's quite a few rooms to go through before Metroid Prime transforms. Don't worry about saving missiles for the final fight, as they are not needed. Once you break Prime through enough rooms, enter the last one to find the true essence of Metroid Prime!
True Metroid Prime
Thankfully Prime's second and final form is easier than the first. You can't attack him with any normal weapons here, but remember that Phazon beam in your inventory you never could use? You get your chance here. Prime's only attacks in this phase are ground waves, which are incredibly easy to avoid (just double jump), and spawning Metroids. At the start of the fight, collect all of the energy orbs while avoiding Prime's shockwave. He will then summon a Phazon pool and go out of sight. Try your thermal visor, and Xray visor, until you can see Prime. Step in the Phazon pool. The screen should read "hyper mode". Hold down A and shoot Prime! Don't give up until the Phazon wears out. If he summoned other Metroids, one shot from the phazon beam destroys them. If there's no Phazon left, a power bomb will take care of them as well. Repeat this a few times and blast away the beast - congratulations, you've beaten Metroid Prime!

How To Easily Kill Metroids In The Final Battle |
Sometimes the Metroids get in your way and after you get out of a metroids grasp another one comes and holds on to you. An easy way to prevent that is to use one of the morph ball's super bombs. That will get rid of all of them if they are near you. It really halps when you are fighting Metroid Prime. (The final boss) |

Kill Elite Pirates |
When the Elite Pirates burst out of containment, switch to your normal beam and build up a charge shot. When the Elite is not trying to absorb energy, fire a Super Missile at them. Two Super Missiles will take them down. Use the following tactics to defeat the different kinds of Elite Pirates at the Phazon Mines. This is a very difficult area due to switching beams for certain pirates:
|
|
Kind Of A Boss: Phazon Elite |
In the Phazon Mines, their are a couple of the Phazon Elite's being preserved. They are very similar to the one and only Elite Pirate. To defeat the Phazon Elite's you have to stay away from it. Once it slams its fists on the ground, shoot it with your strongest weapon. (Two hits with the Super Missile should kill them). Only attack it right after it slams its fists on the ground. |

The Final Boss: Metroid Prime |
Their are two phases to defeating Metroid Prime. To get to Metroid Prime, first you have to climb to the top of impact crater. Once you're in the top room, Metroid Prime is resting their. To defeat him you must look at the color of its body. If it is yellow, take out your power beam. If it is purple, take out your wave beam. If it is white, take out your Ice beam. If it is red, take out your red beam. Metroid Prime usually starts out with a yellow body, so take out your power beam. Just keep shooting it. The way it will attack you is it will shoot missels, (dodge them by moving to the side and pressing b), a beam, (move to the side to dodge the beam), giant round energy bombs, (shoot at those with any beam) or it will charge at you,)quickly turn into a morph ball and stay out of the middle lane). As you get its life down it will throw things at you more often and change body color constantly. Finally you get its life down and you think you won but you didnt. Go forward into the giant hole.
(Phase two). Now you have to fight Metroid Prime again except in a form that looks similar to a squid. To defeat it, you have to stay away from it. When it charges up a wave, double jump over it. Just keep dodging those. Then it will lay phazon on the ground and turn invisable. Turn on your x-ray visor and run into the phazon. Lock onto the Metroid Prime, and hold A. Now keep on that same visor or change it into the combat or thermal visor. Now its going to do the wave attack again a few times. After its done it will put more phazon on the ground, but this time also summon some metroids. Shoot the metroids, and put your x-ray visor on again. Stand in the phazon and hold A.
(Tips) The more you hurt Metroid Prime, the more Metroids it sends out. Sometimes to see Metroid Prime when you have to attack it, you have to use the thermal visor. Keep repeating this until Metroid Prime dies. If you defeat Metroid Prime, you can unlock hard mode. |

Using Moprph Ball Bombs |
If you are having trouble using the Morph ball bombs to boost yourself up try this: drop one bomb, then one second later drop another in the same spot, then the first bomb will boost you up. Then, about half-way up drop another bomb, then come back down and you will be boosted up, just in time to catch the explosion of the bomb you dropped in the air. The explosion of the floating bomb will boost you up even higher. It may take a while to get the hang of it, but keep trying.

View Idle Animations |
Want to see what the heroine of Metroid Prime does when she's not hunting Metroids and Space Pirates? Don't touch your controller for a few seconds and Samus will start to relax her posture slightly, then opens a flap on her Power Blaster and fiddles with the controls. Okay, perhaps it's not the most exciting thing in the world, but cool nevertheless.
