Items |
Maru Mari
The Maru Mari allows you to roll into a ball anytime. From the start, go left to find it.
Missile Carriers
In all, there are twenty-one missile carriers found throughout the game. Each time you get a new one you can carry five more missiles than you could before. If you get all the missiles you can carry 255 of them.
Long Beam
The Long Beam upgrades the range of your beam so you don’t have to get close to an enemy before shooting. It is found in the first area of Brinstar.
Energy Tank
At the start of the game you can only get a maximum of 99 health. When you get an energy tank the amount of health you can get increases. You can get six of them.
Ice Beam
The Ice Beam can be found in Norfair and Brinstar. When you get it you can freeze enemies by shooting them and climb over them. This item is necessary to defeat the Metroids.
Jumping Boots
If you get the Jumping Boots you can jump much higher than you could before. They are found in Norfair.
Wave Beam
The Wave Beam is found in the second area of Norfair. It makes stronger and it shoots in a wave pattern. You can’t use this and the Ice Beam at the same time so I do not advise getting it. Screw Attack
When you get the Screw Attack you can attack when you jump into the air(samus will flash when you use this item). This item saves a lot of missiles and is found in the second area of Norfair.
Bombs
You can find the bombs in the second area of Brinstar. Use them to discover lots of secret passages.
Varia
The Varia is in the second area of Brinstar. You will need jump boots to get it. When you do get it, samus’ armor will change color and damage done by enemies will be cut in half.

Secret Techniques |
Bomb Jump: If you can’t seem to jump over a ledge even with Jumping Boots try this technique. Lay a bomb and quickly stand up. When the bomb detonates jump. If you timed it just right you will go higher than you normally could.
Mid-air Jump: If you happen to accidentally walk or roll off a ledge then try this trick to get back up. If you are in a ball get out of it and jump. This and the previous trick take advantage of the fact that if you are in a standing position you can jump.
Wall-door Jump: Probably the best(and hardest) secret technique in the Metroid game. Stand in a door so that only your gun and part of your arm is in the door. Now press up and down very rapidly on the D-pad. Samus should go up while she is encased in solid stone. If you do this in the right place you can discover unique secret worlds. If you do it wrong you will turn into a ball, unable to get up and unable to move. If this happens try the trick below.
End the game: To end the game anytime pause the game and press up and a on controller 2. You will be given a password and you will continue in the same zone you “died” in.
Normal Secrets
Get to Tourian without beating Kraid or Ridley: First of all, get all the missiles and items(except the Wave Beam) that you can without beating either mini-boss. Now you should have 105 missiles and 6 energy tanks. Make sure you have full energy because you'll need it. Go to the room in Brinstar that is right before the room with the mini-boss statues. Find a Rio, a winged monster that jumps down, attacks and flies back up. It's hard, but try to get him to follow you into the next room(with the mini-boss statues) with you. Once you have done that go down into the lava and the Rio should follow you. Now try to freeze him at just the right point where you can use bombs on him and propel yourself to the other side. This is where the energy comes in handy because you'll probably stay in the lava for a while.

Swimsuit Samus |
On the password screen enter the password:
JUSTIN BAILEY
To get samus in a swimsuit, roll ability, bombs, 255 missels, wave gun and screw attack. |
|
|
You can optain Varia without the jump boot.
With the ice beam you destroy the ceiling ans a monster must enter in the hole before the ceiling close. At the time the ceiling is close and the monster upper than the ceiling you must pass throught the ceiling without the monster down in the hole. You must freeze the monster and that it.
Sorry for the bad english it's my second language.
It is hard and long but it's working.

Walkthrough |
Mission 1
The first mission is simple: enter the second area of Brinstar. Start by going left and get the Maru Mari, which lets you roll into a ball, a very essential skill. Go right until you are in a vertical shaft. Go up until you see a door to the right, which leads into the second area of Brinstar.
Mission 2
Next the mission is to get the Long Beam and return to the second area of Brinstar. Go right until you see a vertical shaft. Go down as far as you can and go through the door. In here you can get your first missile holder. Go back left. Go up until you see the door that leads to the first area of Brinstar and go through. Go down until you see a door on the left. go through and use your missiles on the door to get the Long Beam. Go back to the second area of Brinstar.
Mission 3
Now we need to get more items and prepare for Norfair. Go right until you reach another vertical shaft. On the way you can get your first energy tank. Go up until you see a door on the left. Go in and by now you should have five missiles to use on the door. Now you can get the bombs. Go back right to the vertical shaft and go to the bottom. Go left two rooms. In this room get rid of the enemy and bomb the floor in different places until you blow a hole open. Go down to the bottom. You might have five missiles by now. If so go left and use the missiles on the door and get the Ice Beam. Go back to the vertical shaft. It’s kind of tricky to get up here. Try this: lay a bomb and quickly get up into a standing position. When the bomb propels you upwards jump up. If you do it right you will jump high enough to get out of the hole. Now go left until you get to the vertical shaft. Go up as far as you can and go through the door on the right. Go right three rooms. You’ll have to go through some secret passages on the way. In this room get the energy tank and missile carrier in this room. Now go right and go to the bottom of the shaft. Go left until shaft. Go to the bottom. Go right until you reach an elevator. Go down to enter Norfair!
Mission 4
Just get some more missiles and head for the second area of Norfair. Go through the left door and go through the secret passage to get the missile carrier in this room. Go left and then to the bottom of the vertical shaft. Go right and get the missile carrier. Go back to the elevator room but don’t go up the elevator. Instead go right until you reach a vertical shaft. Go to the bottom of the shaft without bombing the floor and go through the door on the left. In this room go left until you come to a wall. Go through the secret passage in the wall and go left to get two missile carriers.Go back to the vertical shaft. Use bombs on the floor until you find the right place and blow open a hole. Go through the first door you see on your way down. Use missiles on the red door and get the jumping boots. Stay in this room and use bombs on the floor until you find the right place and blow open a hole. Keep doing this as you go whenever you have to. Eventually you will reach a wall you can’t jump over with an enemy jumping out of the lava. Freeze the enemy and use him to get over the wall. Now go left to enter the second area of Norfair.
Mission 5
This time get all the items in the second area of Norfair except the Wave Beam and move on. Go left two rooms and you will be in what looks like a one-screen room. Shoot the ceiling in different places until you can go up. Go through the door and go over the lava until you see a red door. Use missiles on it and go through to get the Screw Attack. Go back right two rooms and go back down. You will be back in the room with the ceiling you just went through. Bomb the floor in different places until you can go down. You will be in a room identical to the one you just left. Go right two rooms. In this room get as close to the door as you can and bomb the floor. Now go right as far as you can and use bombs. In the new room go left and go through a secret passage or two to get the energy tank. Go back right, up through the secret passage and left twice. Go left twice again. In the vertical shaft bomb the floor and go down. At the bottom go right twice. Go right three times and get the missile carrier. Go left three times And bomb the floor. At the bottom go right and get the two missile carriers. Use the map of the second area of Norfair(in the Maps section).Go to the area marked "start".Go back to the first area of Norfair.
The Road to Kraid(Mission 5)
For Mission 5 simply get all the items in Kraid's Hideout and defeat Kraid. Go back to the first area of Brinstar. Now go to the room that is one room to the right of the starting room. It’s fairly obvious where to use bombs in here so use them. Go down and to the right. By now you should have enough missiles so go down to enter Kraid’s Hideout.
Mission 5
For Mission 5 simply get all the items in Kraid's Hideout and defeat Kraid.
Start by using missiles on the first red door you see(on the right). Get the missile carrier and go back left. Go left through the blue door and get another missile carrier. Go right to the vertical shaft. Go down until you see another red door on the right. Go in and you will see an energy tank. Get up on the platform as high as you can. Turn into a ball and use bombs and when they detonate go to the right and roll down to get the tank. Now go back left and go down until you see yet another red door. Get on the ledge to the right that is under the red door. Freeze the Ripper(flying thing) and use him as a stepping stone. Now you can go through the red door. Go right until you reach the vertical shaft. go down and go through the first door you see. Get the missile carrier and go right. Go to the bottom of the shaft and go left twice. You can use the infinite enemies in here to prepare for Kraid. Now go left.
KRAID
Get to the left side of Kraid at the beginning of the battle. Kraid is only vulnerable when he shoots his spikes at you, leaving his chest open. Shoot missiles at his chest when he shoots spikes at you until he’s defeated. As a reward, you can now carry 75 more missiles!
If you want to you can get one more missile carrier before you leave. Go to the main vertical shaft and go the highest door on the left until you reach a vertical shaft. Go to the bottom of the shaft(you may have to bomb through a floor on the way)and go right twice. Go through the red door and get the missile carrier. Now you can leave Kraid’s hideout.
Now it’s time to go to Ridley’s Hideout. Go to Norfair and go to the main vertical shaft in Norfair. Bomb the floor and go down as far as you can. Go left through the door until you reach another vertical shaft. Go to the bottom. Go right and go down the elevator to enter Ridley’s hideout.
Ridley’s Hideout(Mission 6)
For Mission 6 get all missiles and energy tanks and defeat Ridley. First, go left twice. In this room go right as far as you can without shooting the door or going through it. Aim up and shoot to reveal a secret passage. Go up. Jump up and go left through the door. After going left through a bunch of enemies you will find a missile carrier. Go back right then down. Go left once. In this room there is a huge wall that you probably won’t be able to get over. Keep bombibg the floor until you blow open a hole. Turn into a ball and roll through a secret passage to get under the wall. Now use missiles on the red door and go through. In this room you will see an energy tank. Two pieces of the floor are false. Don’t worry if you fall down because there’s another way to get the energy tank. Go left, up then right to get the energy tank. In the room where you got the energy tank fall down the hole. Go right three rooms. In this room there is a very difficult jump to make and you’re probably going to miss a few times. If you make it go right to get the missile. If you don’t make it/after you get the missile fall down and go left twice to face ridley.
Ridley
Ridley is much easier than Kraid was. He will jump up and down shooting fireballs. Just keep shooting him with missiles while dodging the fireballs. After about thirty shots you will defeat Ridley and get 75 extra missiles. Now go left to the next room. You will have to use ten missiles to open the purple door. You can walk on some of the lava in here. Make your way to the end of the room and get the last energy tank. Next go right until you are in a vertical shaft.Go to the bottom and go through the door on the left. Go left through this long room until you see a missile carrier. Get it and use the following time-saving trick:pause the game and on controller 2 press up on the D-pad and A. You will be given a password. Press start and you will be at the elevator in Ridley's Hideout. Now it's time to go to Tourian!
Leave Ridley’s Hideout and Norfair. In the second area of Brinstar there is an item you should get before you enter Tourian. When you leave the elevator room that leads to Norfair go to the top of the vertical shaft. Go right two rooms. In this room defeat any enemies and shoot the ceiling to find a secret passage. Go up. Jump and go through the door on the left. Go left, blow open the red door and go through to get the Varia which cuts damage done by enemies by half. Now go back to the vertical shaft in the first area of Brinstar. Go to the very top and go through the door on the left. Go through a red door. In this room shoot the statues of Kraid and Ridley to build a bridge to Tourian. Go left and take the elevator to enter Tourian!
The Last Level, Tourian(Mission 7)
In Mission 7 defeat the Mother Brain and win the game. In Tourian you will have to confront lots of metroids, so here is how to defeat them: freeze them and use five missiles to destroy them. Start by going to the bottom of the vertical shaft, defeating all of the metroids you see.(Remember to get all of the energy containers and missiles you see-you’re going to need them.)Use ten missiles on the yellow door. Go right and use missiles on the red door to go right. Go down to the bottom of the shaft use missiles on another red door and go left. By now you should have three or four energy containers and a good amount of missiles so go left to fight the Mother Brain. First, however, you will have to destroy a few Zeebetites. These life support systems do not attack but they are heavily guarded and if you don’t destroy them quickly they will recover their health. If you’re quick it will only take about ten hits to destroy each Zeebetite. After you destroy all of the Zeebetites it’s time to fight the Mother Brain!
The Mother Brain Like the Zeebetites the Mother Brain does not attack but she is heavily guarded by guns and floating rings. At the beginning of the fight jump up onto the platform where the last Zeebetite was and shoot a missile at the glass covering the Mother Brain to open up her weak point. Now shoot the Mother Brain with a missile. If you hit it it will make a shrieking noise. Keep repeating the following process: shoot the Mother Brain with as many missiles as you can and then the floating rings will start coming at you. Get out of their way(it is no use attacking them as there is an unlimited amount of them). Jump back up on the platform and shoot some more missiles. After about thirty missiles you will defeat the Mother Brain. The game is not over yet! Go to where the Mother Brain was and you will find out that a time bomb has been set! Go through the left door. You have to get to the elevator in this room before the timer runs out! Jump onto the little platforms and go to the top of the vertical shaft and go up the elevator. Congratulations! You’ve beaten the game! The ending you get depends on the time you took to beat the game.

Wall-Climb Bug |
Shoot open a blue door, then stand where the blue part was. Let the door close on you. Rapidly press down then up, down then up, etc... you will notice as you pop in and out of the ball form that you move up half a square for every down/up repetition. Make sure you always hit UP last, or you will be stuck in the ball form. Be careful where you use this trick, as you can easily get stuck above the screen (like in horizontal-scrolling sections). When you wall-climb in a vert-scroll section, don't go beyond the top of the screen, instead, stop just short of the top, and press the jump button several time to re-center the screen.
There is a room near Ridley's lair where you can use this trick to confuse the game, where-in you wall-climb above a vert-scroll section into a horiz-scroll section, and the game tries to reverse the scrolling properties of the rooms you can get into... but you can't complete the game afterwards. |
