| Introduction |
--------------------------------------
It has been a few years since Nintendo released a brand new Pokemon RPG.
Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire has been hyped as one of the most anticipated game of
the year for GBA.
To simply put it, this game really exceed my expectation. The improvement that
They've done with the game is just really much for Pokemon players to enjoy.
New Features
- There are two kind of Bike in this game
- 2 on 2 battle against certain trainer
- New HM, Dive
- Contest
- Trainer Eye
- Running Shoes, which work like bicycle of previous games (yay!) no more of the walking crap!
- New Land
- 135 new Pokemon
- Trick House
- More Complex fishing system (see fishing section for detailed explanation)
There are a few differences between the two version:
Basically, the game is almost identical in gameplay. However, there are a few
differences as mentioned below. Besides this difference, some Pokemon might be
commonly found in one version while rare in the other version.
Ruby:
- You will fight Team Magma in this game, and Latios could be encountered
randomly in the wild after beating the elite four.
- Pokemon exclusive to Ruby are:
Zangoose, Solrock, Groudon, Seedot, Nuzleaf, Shiftry, Mawile
- After you awakened Groudon, the weather will be sunny.
- Latios is catchable randomly in the wild.
- You'll get the Red orb
- The % of certain Pokemon in certain areas might be different (e.g. Plusle and
Minun, Volbeat and Illumise)
- You get a Red Tent for beating the Trick House
Sapphire
- You will fight Team Aqua in this game, and Latias could be encountered
randomly in the wild after beating the elite four.
- Pokemon exclusive to Sapphire are:
Seviper, Lunatone, Kyogre, Lotad, Lombre, Ludocolo
- After you awakened Kyogre, the weather will be rain.
- Latias is catchable randomly in the wild.
You'll get the Blue orb
- The % of certain Pokemon in certain areas might be different (e.g. Plusle and
Minun, Volbeat and Illumise)
- you get the blue tent for beating the Trick House

I. Game Basics
Many of you know the controls so if you do skip this section. For first timers here are the controls
A button= Use to comfirm anything
B button= Cancel an option
Start button= This is the menu screen press this and all your imformation pops up.
Select button= (Select a key item) You can register an item and use tem easily by using the select button. You can
also re-arrange the order of moves by using this button. An often overlooked
button in the days of R/B/Y.
L/R button= This button is used for Nothing. However, you can change it's function to work
like the A and B button from the setting option.
Stopping evolution
Press the "B" button while your Pokemon is evolving.
Teaching Pokemon a HM/TM
Go to your pack select a TM/HM and use them to one of your Pokemon. (Not all
Pokemon may be able to learn a particular moves).
Using a HM in the field
Press A against the obstacle that you want to go through. This works for every
HM except for Flash. You could also do it manually by going to the Pokemon
status screen and the option to use HM will appear if you check each individual
Pokemon.
Someone PC's (later Lanette's PC)
There's an option for you here to change your PC wallpaper as well as rename
the boxes. Another useless addition to the Pokemon PC. However, something that
will interest you would be the fact that Pokemon will be sent to the next empty
boxes. In other words, you don't have to change your PC boxes when its full. No
more tearing your hairs out when you discover your PC Box is full when you are
throwing a ball at legendary Pokemon.

alongside the professor is Azzuril). You will be asked whether you want to be a boy trainer,
or a girl trainer, as well as your name. You can't choose your rival name, and if you
choose to be a boy, your rival name will be May. If you choose a girl trainer your rival
default name will be Brendan.
a) LITTLE ROUTE TOWN
Little Route Town a whole new adventures begins!
You'll start in a truck it seems your family just moved in. Anyways once you get in your new home go upstairs and press (A) on your clock make the time right and your mom will come she will tell you that the movers are done so go downstairs. She will tell you to come to the T.V your dad will be on but it seems to end,,,, awhhhhhh. Anyways go to the house next door. Your rivals mom will greet you then once she's done go upstairs and talk to your rival. She/he will talk and talk and talk until she realizes that she has to help his/her dad (Professor Birch) on field work, so go out the house and head north. Yay, my favourite part we get to see action!!! So look who's in trouble it's the Proffesor, he is chased by a puppy! (lol) he will tell you to look in his bag and pick a pokemon inside there are Torchic (fire) Mudkip (water) and Treeko (grass) pick any one you want it's your choice so pick and battle the insane little puupy. After the battle you will get 15 exp and Professor Birch will thank you. You will then be in the Professor's lab he will give you the pokemon you used to battle with poochyena (the insane puppy) He will tell you
to go and look for his son/daughter say yes and your almost on your first trainer battle! Now it's time to continue and head for the next
town. Exit the town and head to route 101.
---------------------------------------------------
B. Oldale Town - The Pokemon Center and your Rival
---------------------------------------------------
Walk along route 101. There's nothing here, except some wild Pokemon, namely
Zigzagoon and Wurmple. You can't catch them yet, so level up one or two levels.
Soon enough, you'll be on your way to Oldale Town.
Not much to see here. This town just like Viridian in R/B/Y and Cherrygrove in
G/S/C. As usual, there is a Pokemon Center to heal your Pokemon and also a
Pokemart. Buy some potions and left for the next route. As usual, Nurse Joy is
still in every Pokemon Center. Now the Pokemon Center has it's own escalator.
On the second level of the Pokemon Center, you'll be able to find three booths
- One for Battling, One for Trading, and one for Mixing Records.
Head North, and after walking for a while, you will find your rival. Be
prepared for your first battle. You should have levelled up your Pokemon during
the journey so far. The Pokemon he choose will be a starter Pokemon that has a
type advantages over your Pokemon. Your rival's Pokemon will be at level 5. It
shouldn't be hard to beat him/her if you level up enough. If your rival is a
boy, his name would be Brendan, if she's a girl, her name would be May.
Rival Battle Brendan/May
Pokemon:
Treecko lvl 5 or Mudkip lvl 5 or Torchic lvl 5 (Depnding on your starter)
For Example: If you choose Treecko the grass starter your rival will have
Torchic the fire starter. This battle should be simple if you level up enough.
Presumably, your starter should be at leve 7-8. With this, you will not face
any difficulties beating her/him
My party:
Torchic lv.12
Rivals party:
--------
Torchic| = Mudkip lv.5
Mudkip | = Torchic lv.5
Treeko | = Treeko lv.5
--------
After beating your rival, go back to Oldale Town but you are now allowed to buy
the items in the shop. At the entrance of the town, you will see your rival.
Talk to him/her, and he/she will tell you to follow him/her back to Littleroot
Town.
Now, go back to Littleroot Town and talk to Proffesor Birch. He will give you 5
Pokeballs and a Pokedex. Exit the town, and before that while passing your
house, your mother will give you a running shoes.
With this running shoes, now you can run by holding the "B" button of your
gameboy. Running Shoes will allow you to travel much faster. It could be used
anywhere except in buildings.
Now, head back to Oldale Town again. You might want to capture some Pokemon
along the way. Once in Oldale Town, exit the town using the west exit to route
102. You will find yourself in a route with a few trainers. In this route,
you'll be able to catch Pokemon such as Ralts (they are quite rare though).
Continue walking along the route and soon you'll arrive at Petalburg city.
-------------------------------------------
C. Petalburg City - Meet your Father here
-------------------------------------------
Significant Places: Petalburg Gym, Wally house
Go to Pokemon Center to heal your Pokemon and stock up on the potions. Now go
to the gym. A trainer called Wally will come and begged your father to be given
a Pokemon. Norman will lend him a Zigzagoon which will be used to catch Ralts.
Afterwhich, he will take you back to the gym leader. It is your father. He will
told you that did not have enough experience, and you need 4 badges before you
can challenge him. Take note of this and come back to this gym after you've got
4 badges. Now head to the west exit of the town and make your way to the route
104. Fight some of the trainers here, you might want to catch a Ralts balk there in route 102 if you
want. At the end of the route 104, you'll end up in Petalburg Woods.
Petalburg Woods
Petalburg Woods will remind you of Viridian Forest. There are heaps of Bugs
Pokemon bugging you here. Soon enough, you'll bump into a researcher which was
attacked by Team Magma/Aqua. This will be your first ever meeting with Team
Magma/Aqua, but it certainly won't be the last.
Team Magma/Aqua
Pokemon: Poocyhena lv.11
My party:
Torchic lv.15 , Ralts lv.14, Lombre lv.15
After defeating him, make your way out of the forest. There are parts of the
forest which you will need cut in order to access it. Come back later to acess
this area and grab some items.
---------------
|RUSTBORO CITY|
---------------
Significant Places: Devon Corp, Rostboro Gym, Cutter house
Rustboro City is among one of the biggest city in the game. On the North-East,
is the building where you will get your Poke-Nav later in the game-the Devon
Corp. Heal your Pokemon and head to the gym. The Gym is awfully similar to
Pewter City Gym in term of layout and even the type used.
RUSTBORO GYM
Gymleader = Roxane
Pokemon:
Geodude lv.14
Nosepass lv.15
My party:
Combuskin lv.17,Ralts lv.16,Lombre lv.16
This will be very easy if you picked Mudkip/Treeko as your starter if you started with torchic you better evolve it and teach it Double Kick so we could beat her in two turns right? Wrong , Nosepass has incredibly high Def and Sp.Def he could last at least three of your hits and when you bring nosepases health down she will use potion so try to OHKO it.
After you step out of the gym, you will see one of team Magma/Aqua member. He
will head North, followed by a man in the green suit that you encountered
earlier in the forest. Make your way to a tunnel (far left), North-East of the city. Herethe man earlier whom you saved in Petalburg Woods will tell you that team Magma/Aqua has run off with the Devon package. In front of the cave's entrance, you will see an old man called Mr Briney he tells you that his Wingull was taken hostage by Team Magma/Aqua. So, go inside and fight the
member of Team Magma/Aqua. Once you've beaten Team Aqua/Magma talk again to the guy in Rustboro city who inform you about Team Aqua/Magma.He will take you to a building, the Devon corporation and give you a Poke-Nav-A new version of pokegear in which you can see the map for your reward of beating team Aqua/Magma. The president of the company will also give to you two things to deliver. One for Steven (Beware a boring person ahead), and the
other, the Devon package itself for Captain Stern in Slateport City. Go out and head south skip May/Brendan and go down the Petalberg Woods. You will see a house next to the dock go in, there will be Mr.Briney (The old man you saved earlier) try to talk to him and you will be on the ferry to Dewford Town.
-------------------------------------
| Dewford Town |
|------------------------------------
What to do: Gym get knuckle badge, give letter to Steven
Welcome you arrived at Dewford now what should we do? ? ? ?
I know let's heal your pokemon and leave,,, right, wrong
there is plenty things to do , another badge and we must deliver the letter to Steven. Okay, heal your pokemon and enter the gym.
DEWFORD GYM TRAINERS (Fighting)

Leader Brawley
Brawley's pokemon:

---------------------------
My party:
Kadabra lv.20, Combusken lv.21,Lombre lv.20,
Have a psychic pokemon or a flying pokemon to demolish Brawly if you don't you'll have a hard time, Machop will Bulk up then he will start Karate Chopping carefull very strong!!
After you beat Brawley he will give you the knuckle badge and let's you use Flash out of battle go out the entrance and head north to route 106. You will see a cave go in talk to the hiker to get flash, teach it to a pokemon if no one can learn it then go back to the place where you have to help the devon researcher and catch a Nincada. If someone can learn it you in luck go left and go downstairs. You might notice you can't seem to see anything well use flash now head west and go down to the stairs.
In these section I will not tell you the way to fin Steven. Finding Steven
is easy. Once you found Steven, give the letter to him amd he will give you TM.47 Stell Wing then he'll
leave. If you have an Escape Rope, use it, if not, go all the way back.
Once thats done talk to Mr.Briney and he will take you to Slateport.
|----------------------------------|
| SLATEPORT CITY |
|----------------------------------|
Before you enter Slateport go to the beach and fight ALL the trainers there. After you get a LOT of expirence from battling them go in the house in the beach defeat all the trainers and talk to the man next to the Vending Machine, he will give you 6 Soda Pops. After your done go to Slateport city looks like Team Aqua's causing trouble again... First of all, head to the Mart and buy yourself a Harbor Mail for 50
money. Save it, because you will need it later. Enter the shipyard below the Oceanic Museum (the building surrounded at first by Aqua men), and talk to the
man straight up from when you enter (the guy sitting in front of the desk). That's Dock. He will tell you that Captain Stern went somewhere. I'll save you some trouble - he's in the Oceanic Museum.
So go there.
You must pay 50 dollars to enter once you pay talk to the aqua/magma member who is turning around, he will give you TM.46 Theif then he will leave.
Go up stairs and talk to Captain Stern then two Magmas/Aquas will come and challenge you into a battle

Trainer: Team Magma Grunt
Pokemon Used: Zubat 14, Numel 14
Beat them and their boss Maxie/Archie will come he will talk then they will leave, after Captain Stern will take the Goods and leave now go out of the Museum and head north
*Warning* Lot's of Magnemites ahead!
Upon leaving Slateport via the north exit, you have just entered "The Electric
Zone". Electric Pokemon are very popular from now until Wattson, so Mudkip's gonna have a field day if you chose her/him. Fighting in the grass on Route 110
will land you an Electrike. These little buggers are very fast and learn Thunder Wave, so be careful. With their Abilities, you can be paralyzed from using an attack that involves touch. Go up, (left leads)
to more Trainers and some water. Right takes you to the grassy path that leads to Mauville. Take the grassy path right. Head up, and look! It's May! * Save before facing her *
May's Pokemons:
______________
Torchic | = Numel lv.18, Shroomish lv.18, Marshtomp lv.20
Mudkip | = Wailmer lv.18, Numel lv.18, Grovyle lv.20

--------------
My pokemons:
Alakazam lv.26 Lombre lv.26 Combusken lv.26
Manectric lv.26
Took me a lot of training I'm such an idiot! i wasted at least 3 hours on it , but i think it's worth it. Defeat May, and she'll give you the Itemfinder, which allows you to sense
nearby invisible items. Continue on the path until you reach Mauville City.
|---------------------------------------------|
| MAUVILLE CITY |
|---------------------------------------------|
Did you remember to pick up a Harbor Mail in Slateport? If you didn't, you can
either skip this completely or go back, get one, and then come back. Anyway,
take your Harbor Mail into the first building you see upon entering the city
(it should be the one just to the right of the Game Corner; there's a man
standing next to it). Talk to the girl in there, and she will happily trade
your Harbor Mail for the Coin Case, which will allow you to play the games in
the Game Corner.
Are you tired of runing? If you are you can get a Bike here, here are what the Bikes can do:
Mach Bike Acro Bike
========= =========
1. Faster of the two bikes 1. Tap B = Wheelie
2. Can go up mud slides 2. Hold B = Bunny Hop
3. Cannot cross white bars 3. D-pad, then hold B = Wheelie Ride

6. Maintains same speed
7. Cannot go up mud Slides
8. Can cross white bars

Well pick anyone you want it doesn't matter if you need the specific one you can come back and change.
Go back to Cycling road to train your pokemon then go to the gym
you think your ready for Wattson (Third Gymleader)?
Well if you think you are your not if you don't your right, look who's in front of the gymleader, Wally! Time to battle
Wallys pokemon: Ralts lv.16
My pokemons: Alakazam lv.28 Lombre lv.27 Combusken lv.27

if not then fighting moves on Magnemite and Magneton and anything you want on Voltorb.
Now that you have DYNAMO Badge you can now able to use Rock Smash. TO get
Rock Smash go to the house east of Pokemon Mart in Mauville City. Talk to him
and he'll give you HM Rock Smash.
Once you go west of Mauville, you'll see a house and an old guy in it. Go
inside the house and you'll be in Day Care. You can leave your pokemon in here
so they can level up. It will take a long time to level up your pokemon in
there. Now, go outside and there's a lot of trainers in here. Fight them.
Once you beat all the trainers, head all the way to the west.
-----------------
|Verdanturf Town|
-----------------
West of these place is a house called, Pokemon Contest. You can enter to your
Pokemon to be in contest. Also, you can get a Contest Pass in which you needed
participate in other contest across Hoenn Region. I'll explain later how the
contest works. Let's proceed...
Once you get in Vendanturf town, be sure to go first to Pokemon Center to heal your wounded pokemon. Once you do that, head to the cave just north of Pokemon Mart. You will see a girl in there, standing. Ingnore her and just
go straight north. You'll be inside the Rusturf Tunnel in which connects to Rustboro City.
Once you get in there, you'll see a man just standing. Talk to him and fight him.Now that you beat him, go north to get Max Ether. and go west. You'll see a
guy from the other side of the rock and a woman from the other site of the rock. Go beside her and use rock smash to the rock. Once you've done it, the guy from the other side will give you HM Stregth. Now go back to Mauville City and head north from there. Once you head north you'll see a guy standing in
front of him so you can batte him. Battle Him 4 times in a row.
Trainer: Winstrate Victor
Pokemon Used: Taillow 16, Zigzagoon 16
Trainer: Vivi
Pokemon Used: Marill 15, Shroomish 15, Numel 15
Trainer: Victoria
Pokemon Used: Roselia 16
Trainer: Vicky
Pokemon Used: Meditite 18
Beat them and go in the house talk to the mom and she will give you macho brace. Now, keep going up and an interviewer and a cameraman will 2v2 battle you.
After the battle, she will ask you if you want to be interviewed. Accept and
you'll see a screen that looks like the one that appeared when the guy at
Petalburg asked for your profile will appear and you have to select a few
options. Maybe you will become famous but I don't know what you need to answer
here (I noticed that some TV Screens are turned on after you are interviewed,
and if you check them, the program is about you, but that's all).
Right ahead, you will see the entrance of a desert. But as soon as you step on
the desert, a sandstorm will blow and you can't go on. There is nothing you can
do about it now, just head west.
______________________________
FIERY PATH
______________________________
This cave is just a passage. There is nothing to do here without STRENGTH, and
even though you do have the HM, you can't use the move outside battles until
you receive the 4th Badge. Just leave north to the other side of Route 112.
To the south is the other entrance of the desert. As usual, the sand will blow.
Head north and talk to the guy standing in front of a big tree. You will get a
TM 43. You can use this to teach SECRET POWER to a pkmn, move that allows you
to climb trees and open little indents on mountains. Inside those holes you
can set up your Secret Base. I'll go into more details at another section.
For now, just keep going. Inside the house blocked (in terms) by a bush, a
woman will heal your pkmn. Heal and move on. If you have the Mach Bike, you can
go up the sandfall and battle a trainer... If you don't, you can do this later.
A girl near the berry plants will give you a Berry. Keep going east to route 113
Notice the ashes falling from the volcano as you enter this route... One thing
that you should be aware of: some items and trainers are kind of buried, so
don't be scared to enter a battle with something you didn't see very well. And
check all the "holes", there are items in some.
Go in that house along the way, talk to the man and he'll give you a Soot Pack.
Collect as many ashes as you can by stepping on the grassy area (notice that it
becomes green) and then go back to the house to exchange ashes for certain
items.
After you are done with the game, grab the TM 32 in one of those holes and move
west to...
____________________________
FALLARBOR TOWN
____________________________
Heal at the Pokemon Center, and talk to the girl blocking the PC. She will ask
you to visit her at Route 114. If you can enter another house here, a girl will
say she saw some Magma/Aqua guys at Route 114.
Two houses left to the Pkmn Center is the house of the Move Tutor. He can make
your pokemon remember natural moves that they had at early levels, if you bring
him a Heart Scale later on, that is. The only place so far that you could have
gotten this item that I know of is the beach east of Mauville, hidden under one
of the stones, the beach west of Petalberg and the beach under Slateport. Now go to route 114.Enter the first house you see and talk to the first person you see for a TM 28.
If you talk to the other man inside this house... he'll do nothing (that I know
of). The old man with a Poochyena on his side will give you a TM 05 (two TMs
in one Route 114.
Enter the house and that girl that was blocking the PC at the Pokemon Center
will give you a Seedot/Lotad Doll (R/S respectively). She is the person that
takes care of the Pokemon Storage System now, and there's an e-mail from Bill.
in one of the PCs. Go up the mountain, and break some rocks for items. Just
keep going and enter the cave on the mountain.
You don't get far
before seeing Team Aqua trying to get away with a Meteorite. But just when Team
Aqua's/Magma's about to split, guess who shows up but the *cough* good guys, Team
Aqua/Magma. It's too late, though. Team Aqua/Magma gets away with the meteorite, and
Magma's/Aqua's leader talks to you and introduces himself as Archie/Maxie. He explains Team
Aqua's plans to you, they must be stopped, blah. After that, he leaves. During
this time, about a thousand hints are dropped right in front of your face that
you should go to Mt. Chimney. Why don't you do that?
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Mt. Chimney
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
After backtracking to Mt. Chimney, you'll notice the Aqua/Magma men blocking the lift
are now gone, allowing you to ride it up to the summit. Do so. You'll see
various battles between the grunts, and Maxie gets triple-teamed by three Aqua
men. Your job is to bust up the clowns on the upper left side. a Grunt, Yours
Truly, and finally..Archie himself.

Well I suggest you *SAVE* in front of them, cause if you loose your gonna feel a lot of presure down there! So anyways you better have at least one pokemon above 32 and you'll be fine. Carefull of Mightyena's Intimadate and Golbat's speed, chances are that you don't have a pokemon faster than Golbat.
After you beat'em Team Aqua/Magma will leave and there arch enemie (Team Aqua/Magma) will congrat you and he will leave. Before you go, talk to the machine to get the Meteorite.
Now go south and head for Jugged Pass.
JUGGED PASS
There's nothing to do here, except you can catch pokemon
and fight Trainers otherwise it's kinda just a hil.
Keep on jumping until you reach to Lavaridge
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
LAVARIDGE TOWN
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Enter Lavaridge town, it may seem a little small but there's a lot to do in here. Heal your pokemon and talk to the old lady beside the hot tub, she will give you a egg. Once hatched it will be an Wynaut. Anyways enter the gym and face Flannery.
_______________ Lavaridge town Gym _____________________________
Remember Sabrina’s Gym? Just like it, in a sense. One pool of water on one
screen takes you to that same pool of water on a different screen. Here’s how
to get to the leader: left, left, top left, up, middle left, up, top right,
right, bottom left, down. Note that the Gym Trainers are hiding in some of the
holes! Once you're ready, talk to Flannery.

The main thing you have to watch out for is Overheat. Overheat has insane
power, but lowers Special Attack by two levels after each use. If your Pokemon
aren't strong enough, chances are the first Overheat will OHKO you. Torkoal
knows Attract as well, so stay on your guard. Dousing Flannery's spirits gets
you the Heat Badge, the ability to use Strength out of battle, and TM50,
Overheat. Leave the gym and you will be stoped by May/Brendan
he/she will give you the Go-Googles which allows you to go through the desert.
===================================================== Petalberg City once more
=====================================================
Mauville's the starting point of your long backtracking expedition. Heal, play
games, do whatever you want, but when you're ready, go left and enter
Verdanturf Town. Enter Rusturf Tunnel and exit the other side so you're on
Route 116. Don't forget that you can pick up the Exp. Share from the president
of Devon Corp. as thanks for being an errand boy. From Rustboro City, continue
south. Go back through Petalburg Woods and head east into Petalburg. Nothing to
do here but enter the Gym.
Petalberg Gym
Norman's Gym is separated into nine different rooms.
Heal, if needed to be, then enter the 5th gym. Now that you have 4 badges, your
father will
let you get through. The gym is shaped a bit like a diamond, so you can fight
from 3-7
junior trainers. Here's how you should do it to get the most EXP. It looks
something like
this:
|---|---|---|
| | G | |
| |--D|D--| |
| | 3 | 3 | |
|--D|D-D|D--|
| 2 | 2 | 2 |

3 = Trainers with one Level 27 Zangoose (954 EXP, 1296G)
4 = Gym Leader
D = Door
E = Entrance
Once you get to the Gym Leader (Norman) you will be in a gym battle.

For winning you will recieve the Balance Badge. Ut allows you to use Surf and
it will increase your pokemon's defensive power. You will also receieve TM
42 Facade. Its a great move with 70 attack, 100 accuracy, and will have double
power if the opponent is paralyzed, poisoned, or burned.
Now head out and go into Wally's house to the left of the gym. Talk to Wally's
dad and he will thank you a couple times and then give you HM 03 Surf. You
can teach this to a pokemon and use it to surf over water areas. This will
increased the number of places you can visit greatly. It is also one of the
best water moves because it has 100 Accuracy and 95 Attack.
Now exit his house and go down to the bottom left of the town and surf over
the small pond to reach an ether. Then head up to the upper right corner and
surf over that area to grab the max revive. Also in this pond area you will
be able to find Marills which is a great water pokemon. Now head left and then
up through the forest. Cross the bridge and go back to Rustboro. Now head to
the right and all the way into the cave once more, go through it and end up
back in Verdanturf.
Now head left into Mauville once again and then go north. This time when you
reach the Desert Ruins enter them. You will see a trainer right to your left,
so walk up to him to fight him. He will use a level 24 sandshrew, so watch
out. He won't be hurt by the sandstorm, so make sure you use a rock or ground
type so that the sandstorm doesn't widdle away at your HP each turn. Now go
up and to the left to grab the stardust. Its just some red sand but it sells
for a high price. Now head a little but to the right and up and you'll find
another trainer. They will use a level 22 Baltoy, a level 22 Sandshrew, and
a level 22 Baltoy. These aren't that hard, but will try to lower your
accuracy.
Head to the right and you'll find a female trainer. She uses a level 23
Sandshrew and a level 23 Baltoy. Now head up into the upper right corner
and you'll find 2 fossils. You will only get to choose one so choose wisely.
The choices are:
Root Fossil: Lileep (Rock / Grass)
Claw Fossil: Anorith (Rock / Bug)
Choose which one you want and the other will disappear. Then, if you would
like it to be turned into a pokemon, go back to Rustboro City and take it
to Devon Corporation to get it revived. Now head down and fight the two
trainers below. They will use a level 24 Sandlash and a level 24 Sandshrew.
Beat them and then head back to Mauville city and prepared to take a trip
through an underground area.
Now once you've done that go talk to Wattson standing outside, he will give you a basement key you use that to enter New Mauville go to route ten and surf down, you will see a cave, enter it and find a way to turn the generator down, once that's finished go back to Wattson and he will give you TM.23 thunder bolt. After go east,
Surf right. Talk to the fisherman on the water's edge to receive the Good Rod.
Go right, and up on the grass, Steven appears,
Well he will talk to ya, once he is done go and head to route 118.

You won't get to the Weather Institute for a while. You've got to go through
lots of really tall grass, and fight lots of Trainers. Upon reaching the
Institute, you'll see two Aqua guys blocking the way. Not much you can do
except go into the building. You can use the bed as a Pokemon Center. Make
your way through the few Aquas on the first floor, and the one or two on the
second floor. Heal if you need to, then challenge the Admin. Smoke her, and
Team Aqua leaves.

If you don't have an open slot in your party, you won't get Castform. Simply
drop off a Pokemon and return in order to get Castform. Don't forget to remove
its Mystic Water.
Castform's a goofy-looking Pokemon who changes its type based on the weather.
No, they're not breasts.
When it's raining, Castform's type changes to Water.
When it's sunny, Castform's type changes to Fire.
When it's hailing, Castform's type changes to Ice.
When a sandstorm is blowing, Castform's type remains Normal.
Castform's signature move is Weather Ball. It's a move that changes type based
on the weather. Weather Ball's type stays the same as Castform's current type,
with the exception of Sandstorm. In a sandstorm, Weather Ball changes to a
Rock type. Drop off Castform (unless you want to level it) in the nearby PC,
heal, save, and cross the bridge. You don't get far before May stops you and challenges you. You should win
easily.

In Fortree City, almost everything is on top of a tree. Heal; buy some
Ultra Balls if necessary. You can't enter the gym. Some mysterious
force is blocking you. Go east out of the city into Route 120.
Location: Route 120
As you enter Route 120, go all the way to the right, all the way down,
and all the way to the left. You will see Steven on the bridge. You can
also see the shadow of a pokemon, but there is supposedly no pokemon
there. But when Steven uses the Devon Scope, BAM! You can see Kecleon!
Pokemon Battle-
Pokemon- Kecleon Lv. 30
If you already have a Kecleon, you don't need to worry about catching
this pokemon. Kecleon is a good pokemon to have for the next gym.
Anyway, after the battle, Steven will give you the Devon Scope (have
you noticed something yet? Silph Co., Devon Co.. Silph Scope, Devon
Scope). After Steven leaves, go back to Fortree City.
Now heal if necessary and head to the gym. Use the Devon Scope on the
mysterious force and Kecleon will appear. But this one runs away.
Anyway, head into the gym.

These can be easy with Thunderbolt. If you don't have an electric or
ice pokemon, use Castform with Powder Snow or Kecleon who can learn T-
bolt through the TM. The gym is made of little revolving things that
are like puzzles.
Leader: Winona-
Pokemon-
Swellow Lv. 31
Skarmory Lv. 31
Pelliper Lv. 30
Altaria Lv. 33
Best to bring both an ice and an electric pokemon in this fight.
Electric pokemon have a x4 advantage over Pelliper and a x2 advantage
over Swellow and Skarmory. But Altaria is part Dragon, so use an ice
pokemon for a x4 advantage. This is a fairly hard gym fight even with
those pokemon. Skarmory has Steel Wing, Pelliper has Protect, and
Altaria has Earthquake. Once you beat this gym, Winona gives you TM40-
Aerial Ace and the Feather Badge. Now leave the gym. It's time to head
out to sea.
